@@jelly221 Seems a pretty clear case of "F around, find out" for the victim of the attack. It was not the right way to address the issues with the Healthcare system, but the high ups know there is a breaking point for people, and that when pushed past that point by a company refusing to hold up their end of a deal through loopholes (that they write in for themselves) some people will react in explosive or violent ways. Personally I've just refused to pay into the insurance system (other than when I was legally forced to by Democrats via the ACA). As someone who makes choices that result in minimal health issues it's cheaper to just pay for those in the rare cases they happen than to be paying thousands every year for insurance that provides no benefit to me because deductibles and co-pays exist even when you pay for insurance.

Thanks for your coverage of this case. I agree this killing is not the way to handle these issues. However, when one feels helpless against these entities that have all the power and control to manipulate health care then desperate people do desperate things. At present we live in a culture of death where most doctors are willing to let and even assist a patient with their death, whether they want to die or not. It's not just doctors, though, it's basically all institutions of "health care." Nurses have become accustomed to allowing, especially older patients, to die. Our culture has very little respect for the aged. They are instead a burden. I have seen drastic changes in healthcare, since retiring from nursing. Insurance is a huge problem, but the entire system is broken. Ethics need to be taught and instilled in nursing and doctors. People need to understand that a person is not an inconvenience nor are they disposable! God help us!

I don't understand how you DON'T see this! The insurance companies dictate all aspects of healthcare,, yet they have no medical degree in order to MAKE those decisions. THIS is why people are frustrated. If insurance companies want to be able to make medical decisions, then they need to go to medical school. @@Kayla11113 I'm surprised this didn't happen years ago with all of the personal stories of claim denials I'm reading about. Luigi might be (we'll see) responsible for one death. I want to know how many deaths the United Healthcare insurance company, alone, is responsible for. We know 100's of thousands die from hospital and doctor's mistakes every year. Guess how many are covered up?? Just because they are wearing a white lab coat or suit and tie do not make these people trustworthy.

I dont understand why his family, or at least him and his mom, have the poorest rated health insurance. The cost of his high school education was more money than a lot of people pay for college, not to mention his Ivy League college education on top of that. The point is that his family has the money for better insurance and better health care. He could have gone to canada. They have socialized medicine. The dichotomy between the family wealth and poor health insurance coverage doesn't make sense.

There is no way on Earth that the lawmakers and professionals hired to help Americans remain healthy and alive can justify putting the financial gain of the shareholders of those companies as a priority over the American citizens health and well being . I agree Peter that vigilante inspired action is not the solution , but it doesn’t help that it’s only after something as outrageous as what happened finally does we all start having conversations about these deplorable practices that have become all to common. The reason doctors exist is not to enrich some shareholders but to save lives , so it really is completely backwards that they are being held hostages to a system where they have to answer to the money makers and not to the real clients that are the tax payers and insurance payers that expect a decent health care.

I hope his family steps in because Luigi is not in the right frame of mind to be making decisions at this point. He is not in a good frame of mind just based on his entry into the courthouse screaming and yelling. His family is uber-wealthy, they can get him the best lawyer available. All the notebooks, and the 3 page letter truly makes me feel that he thought he would be shot and he was willing to take that chance. Why else would he walk around with manifestos and explanations, stating he worked alone, honestly feels he thought it was going to be death by cop.
