So basically, “they” are his emotions who are “liars in his home” liars in his mansion in his mind. The emotions form Nate himself so thats why he says aim at your direction shoot at my reflection by which he shatters his perception. So, if he destroys or “kills” his emotions he will destroy himself. But his conflicting emotions are destroying him slowly right now as well. Its a big dilemma presented in a dope way.

Lyrics Talk to you with my hands tied Walk towards you on a fine line Everybody has a dark side I feel embarrassed when they see mine Rain falling from my dark skies Clouds parting, but it's all lies Shouldn't I see the sunshine now? Wonder how I look in God's eyes Am I a good person or a lost one? Will this feel worth it when I'm all done? Will I feel ashamed of like who I was? With the pain vanish or will more come? Will I stay numb or regain love? Maybe someday have a taste of freedom? Will I take the poison out of my blood? Or just leave it there inside of my lungs? I (know know, know) I should let you go, hands are feeling cold Just leave me alone (no, no, no) I just want control, I feel so exposed Liars in my home (no, no, no) Please do not provoke, noose around my soul, I cut down the rope They don't want me happy, they don't want me fixed They don't want me better, they just want me broke Talk but never listen, at least I admit it Blackout all my vision, watching me diminish That's my favorite past time, I know nothing different Tell me something different, I don't see the difference I just feel offended, I just feel defensive Why don't you accept me? I just need acceptance Time is of the essence, don't like how we spend it You just want perfection, I need you to let me Let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go Let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go Let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go Let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go Why'd you say I don't belong here? (Huh?) Fill a bucket full of my tears (Huh?) Pour it out the water, all of my insecurities whenever I'm scared I watch 'em grow and say, "I don't care" I pray to God they ask if hope's real And if it isn't, I was thinking Maybe you could introduce us, we ain't met still Yeah, my chest feels like a blade's in it Who put it there? I think they did it Out the zone know, where am I head it Am I Hell-bound? Will I find Heaven? Will I feel better or just regret it? If I let you go and find the seven letters I been looking for us like it's never endin' Open all the doors and let the peace enter I'm (so, so, so) Pitiful at times, miserable inside They want me to hide (no, no, no) How can I survive? Change your state of mind I should say goodbye (no, no, no) They want me to beg, they want me to plead, they want me to die They just want me dead, they just want me hurt Don't want me to live, don't want me alive Stop with the pretending, I don't feel respected I just feel rejected, I don't like rejection You promise protection, I don't feel protected I just feel neglected, how can I respect it? I'll teach them a lesson, I pick up the weapon Aim in your direction, shoot at my reflection Shatter my perception, hate it when I'm desperate You just want perfection, I want you to let me Let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go Let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go Let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go Let me go, let me go, let me go, let me go (let me go)

Hey layedbak, been watching your videos for a while, glad that you were able to review NF. First time I decided to comment on a video and I just wanted to share my story and how this song sort of resounds deeply in my experience. As you would know this song seems to be about the internal battle of the mind and the soul, hope and the reality of the situation. 7 years ago In a state of mental turmoil I plunged a 6 inch blade deep into my chest. Unfortunately, or more like fortunately, I made it through. The experiences that I went through during my operation without anaesthetics, followed by the mental battle that I had to go through to cling onto life during my 1 week coma was exactly like this song. Angry with the rejection, the amount of times that I countlessly tried to prove myself only to fall flat on my face, and the lack of understanding of why I went through so much pain in life just to live was what lead to this decision, and this was well described in the first part of this song. The acceptance came during my coma. I was essentially fighting tooth and nail to find a reason only to realise that the enemy was indeed me, I put those expectations on myself, adding to the burden that was already almost unsurpassable. I realised thats what held me from my true 'freedom', and from realising hope. Upon realising, then begins the journey to love myself and accept who I am, and to better myself only if its for me and nobody else. That's when it all clicked, and the gears turned. So I started to forgive myself. I should have been dead, I was considered dead for 10 minutes on the operating table. Somehow I made it out as I felt the persistence of the doctors trying to bring me back to life. It definitely was no easy journey, and this song perfectly encapsulates the journey of a person who definitely is going through with accepting themselves, and trying to figure out if they are true to themselves. Not sure if this helps in understanding the situation, but I sincerely hope that to anybody who has listened to this song or is going through some shit in their lives, trust in yourself, life is difficult, so love yourself.

NF is changing lives and it’s a beautiful thing to watch and experience.
@huntergarnhardt5 жыл бұрын
The crazy thing about this song is that yes, it can be interpreted as him wanting people to let him go and be himself and find his own way. But there's also the aspect of him talking to himself again. Nate always has this internal struggle with the emotions inside himself. near the end of the song, he provides this set of lyrics "I'll teach them a lesson, I pick up the weapon. Aim in your direction, shoot at MY reflection. Shatter my perception, hate it when I'm desperate. You just want perfection, I need you to let me (go)." He's talking to himself here. He telling himself to kill the perceptions he has of himself, and all the burdens that have dragged him down over the years so that he can move on to find happiness and be the Nate the he is Searching for.

What you were talking about at the end about talking with someone who understands what you’ve been through is the exact conversation I had with one of my best friends a day ago. We were just seeing how we impacted each other’s lives through being able to share our stories without judgement, it’s truly a power thing to have empathy for others and to receive it. Awesome message LayedBak!

When he says, "Let Me Go," I believe he is speaking to his OCD and other burdens and mental illnesesses he may deal with, hence the, "you just want perfection" part. It seems to me like he's referring to his OCD there. I may be wrong but that's what I got from it. Great reaction as always!

At 5:24 when nf said "search for the seven letters" did he mean A.N.S.W.E.R.S. that's what the whole thing behind the album is searching for answers?

What you said is so true. If your heart isn't right and your mind isn't right, success doesn't even matter. You begin to find wealth and successes do not define you as a person. NF is amazing at making people think with his lyrics.

🔥Shoot at my reflection, shatter my perception🔥. He’s holding himself to those high standards as well.

I think of this song two ways. 1. He is speaking to himself 2. He is speaking to the people that criticize him because he raps his emotions, the truth.

To me, seems like he's telling his brain to, let him go. He wants freedom from his thoughts!

I love the real talk. People don't want to hear the truth. The truth is so unpopular. Keep doing you layedBak. I'm a firm believer that you withdraw what you deposit. Keep depositing positivity and you will withdraw positivity. Keep being that light on a dark path bro.

I didn't understand the song this way, i thought he was talking to his burdens(though it can be a double meaning). I'm new here and love your take on his songs. You add new layers to the songs, and i LOVE your advices. I'm loving this channel, i came for Nf and stayed for your advices and your energy. Loved you freestyle at the end!

I’m sorry that i’m still unable to kill the negativity with positivity. I get an escape from it while watching your vids and listening to your msgs, but then after, i’m back in the same cycle. I hate it, and i hate myself so often, and i don’t want to. I want to be happy, i’m trying so hard every day and i still fail. But i’ll never stop trying. My bad for being negative, just trying to be honest. But your vids make a positive impact on me. That release from the BS in my mind makes me so appreciative of you and your channel. Please keep making these vids and being you so it can help ppl like me. One last thing tho, i’ll never give up

This song is about his negative emotions and burdens that’s holding him back . He says in this song “'i’ll teach them a lesson, I pick up the weapon Aim in your direction, shoot at my reflection Shatter my perception, hate it when I'm desperate.” Signifying he is talking to his own mind . Beautiful song and great reaction homie
