I love watching people when they hear MCR for the first time. They usually go into it saying, “I don’t know. Not sure if it’ll be my thing.” Then by the end of the song, they’re like, “Whoa! Fun Fact: So there is a belief that when you die your favorite memory comes to you in your moment of death. That is what this video and song are about. He's remembering when his father took him into the city and brought him to the parade. How is that nuts? Led Zeppelin albums are still relevant after 40-50 years. Granted MCR are by no means Led Zeppelin level and never will be, but they still were popular enough to have lifelong fans. Not me personally, because this is the only song I like by them, but I can't deny how big they were.

Honestly, just do a whole album reaction. Each song fits better and better in the context of the whole album, which I believe is a modern masterpiece, to the likes of Queen's "A Night at the Opera" and Pink Floyd's "The Wall." The album is about a Cancer Patient, "The Patient," who is reflecting on his life and is contemplating what his afterlife is going to be like. The Whole Marching band thing is his biggest memory of going to see a Marching band as a kid, so that's how Death has come to greet him. It's a great, front-to-back album with a lot of different pacings, and an abundance of absolute energy packed rockers throughout.
@ScottLovenberg4 жыл бұрын
Unpopular opinion : It's worth noting that this album is amazing, cover to cover, and would be their best had they not released the Danger Days concept album that somehow managed to be more mature than The Black Parade.
@cameronbowshlagger27224 жыл бұрын
@@ScottLovenberg Besides the last part, That's a very popular opinion amongst fans. I very much enjoy Danger Days, but I don't feel that it is more "mature" per se. I feel that the concept and execution of TBP is their pinnacle, and that the content they are Handling, such as in the song "Cancer," is done very well. Almost every person I've seen listen to that song has some connection because they hit it so well and made it very relatable. I feel the whole concept of Death and the Afterlife in TBP is a far more adult and heavier topic to deal with; with the manner they carried "restrained" anger throughout the album from "The Patient's" life, and bring it all to an end in "Disenchanted" and "Famous Last Words" is the prime example of what I've been explaining thus far. The patient's acceptance of his fate displays their own maturity, as they show in their musicality, and their restraint of the whole angry rock/metal vibe they had carried in the majority of the Album. Again, I love Danger Days still, but I don't feel like it hits as "mature" in my opinion. I believe the musical style seemed too experimental and "pop-like" in several songs, to be truly considered as a mature album. I think that the whole "Protectionist" vibe they have in many songs such as "Save Yourself...." is a very mature concept, but It doesn't seem to carry as well and as heavy/relatable as the overall concepts in TBP. "Only Hope.." is in my mind, the most adult song on the list simply because it feels like a "shoot your shot" kind of message at the beginning, and rolls into a nice and sweet song about a relationship. For sake of conversation, we may not agree on which album Is sonically the best, primarily because we may have different tastes slightly, but I will stand by my point of TBP being the more Mature album, with sonically better execution and messaging. (Besides "sleep" because that is just a wall of sound, but that wall of sound is even deep by the patient's subconscious telling him to "Wake up" while being drowned out by the wall of sound.)
