The phone number is the suicide hotline. When this song was released it actually made a huge decrease in the amount of suicides. I believe it was the busiest time for the hotline. Saved a lot of lives. This song is so powerful...it can be related to any hardship someone is going through. He actually performed this song with a bunch of survivors on stage. It was beautiful! Thank you for reacting to this! 🙏🏼

My mom passed away the week before this song came out, and not gonna lie, this song saved me. I came across it randomly and lost my shit, I repeatedly told myself I wasn't worth calling the hotline, but I eventually did. And, I'm here almost four years later. So glad I called. Her death still isn't easy to deal with, but I've found healthy ways to cope. I'm thankful this song has helped so many others, too.

Suicide doesn't remove the pain. It just moves it to others.
@bresciabrazil17354 жыл бұрын
I think that it’s selfish to expect someone to want to want to be alive for someone else. At the end of the day it’s their life they have to live with. You will never understand what another person has, is, or will go through. At the end of the day YOU are responsible for your feelings and healing yourself. If they decide to help themselves and understand their feelings in order to heal that’s amazing but you can’t control how other people feel or perceives their own world because the only person you have control over is yourself. The only thing you can do is offer a helping hand. I lost my brother and I will never blame him for causing me pain. I blame myself for not being of more help to him. But at the same time you can only offer so much of yourself to someone. They have to want to help themselves. Sometimes people just see so much hurt around and don’t understand how to process it. It doesn’t make them any less. Their pain is valid and if by chance they are now gone it’s up to YOU to forgive yourself and, if need be, them. If you sit in your grief and sadness your just ruining what life you have left.
@bresciabrazil17354 жыл бұрын
I also want to say I blame a lot of outside factors for my brothers death. I blame the way we handle mental health and men’s emotional states, how we don’t hold people responsible for actions towards kids because they are “elders,” how we try to just make everything disappear with drugs instead of actually finding the underlying cause. There’s a lot of progress we need to achieve to help those like my brother and myself fight thoughts and attempts of suicide. Because we need progress in understanding ourselves. We are too concerned on what’s on the outside we neglect the inside to the point where it is no longer healthy and gets to the point where it is hard to control. All I ask is that you don’t just blame them and make yourself the victim in a situation where they are the main priority.

He made me stronger than I ever thought I could be and I am now able to help others in similar situations. Everything happens for a reason. People are in our lives for a reason and they leave our lives for a reason. It’s up to us to find out why and learn those lessons. ❤️

I’ve been in that dark stage. Its a long, complicated story with many factors playing a part for why I was suicidal. That was 3+ years ago. 2 straight years of intense depression. Nearly ended my life twice. My best friend, and only person, was there for me through it all. Nobody else. He gave me such useful advice, but was actually physically present because he attended my old high school miles away. I had claw myself out of the darkness. Into the light. Now, I help others put of their depression. I’m kind to everyone I meet because you never know what’s going on under the surface. I started a movement. I inspired many people I knew with my story. I didn’t even realize I made such an impact in these people’s lives until my senior year when I was prepping to go to college. So many people coming and thanking me for everything I’ve done for them. Showed them the impossible is obtainable if you are hopeful. Believe in yourself. One that impacted me the most was when a father approached me at a banquet for the cross country team. He told me how he was currently deployed in afghanistan and wasn’t able to help his son grow into a confident man. His son didn’t have a role model. Until his son met me. He said that his son always talked about how I would train him to be the best version of himself. The father was nearly in tears. Make sure to be kind to people. Like I said, you never know what’s happening under the surface. Especially with the controversy nowadays. We need to stop thinking so narrowly and broaden our perspectives. Be more accepting.

The first chorus is how he feels in the beginning, "I don't wanna be alive". Then "I wamt you to be alive" is what he is being told when he calls the Suicide Prevention hotline (hence the phone number). Then the last one is how he feels after he comes to terms with everything. It was nominated for best song I believe at the 2017 MTV Awards.

Watch Logics VMA performance of this song. The song goes right threw me. He even has a little speech at the end that is incredible.

The song is about suicide. The title is actually a suicide hotline number. Definitely a touching song. Heard this song many times. Have seen this video a few times. But just watching this reaction and seeing the video yet again, still brings tears to my eyes. Sad how hard it is to be yourself without the fear of others judging you. And your definitely right, in high school there are so many pressures. Trying to fit in. Being athletic. Being popular. Being smart. Dressing with swag. Being able to talk to the girl. Or as in this video shows, being able to be comfortable with your sexuality, and hoping everyone around you can accept it and accept you.

"I just wanna die" "I want to be alive" It's one thing if we want either one of them. But when we want both is when life is the hardest for us.

That Man on the moon album saved my life. 16 years old, borrowing my friends prestige headphones after he told me to check out this Kid Cudi guy and album, left me to it walking down town alone... Never looked back after pressing the play button. Music hit in a different way that day and cannot say anything else besides it gave me a view of the world I needed. Still mates with the guy who showed me Cudi and I'm forever in his debt 💙
