I use spray on contact Cement. It gives you a little bit of working time to get the piece positioned. When fully assembled, I place something heavy on top of it for an hour or so.

Thank you for the video! I'm learning, and watching many videos. A laser purchase is only weeks away. I had not seen a video discussing the double-sided tape for the mandala art. Thanks!

My biggest takeaway from this video - sticky sheets. I use it for my mold-making process, didn't think of using it for laser. Thanks!

Great work! I use gorilla Wood Glue and a fine small brush, works wonders...for the top laye which is normally the thinist, did you use acrylic? The wood breaks easy on the layer. I was curious because you took the tape off and didnt break?
@SixEightWoodworksАй бұрын
Yeah, acrylic is solid. A great option for the thin top layers.

I am thinking of starting a laser art hobby business from home. Question is how do you protect the laser machine from the winter cold when not working in the garage?
@SixEightWoodworksАй бұрын
It’s super fun. The P2 and P2S come with antifreeze to add to the laser tube so it’s a non-issue. The diode machines like the S1 or F Series don’t need it as there’s no liquid.

Those are great! Would love a post on how you separate the layers!
@chrism70675 ай бұрын
separate the layers in what way? When you purchase the files the layers are separated. If you make them your self, you make them each as individual layers.

Thanks for the video! Great tip about the double sided tape! I am just about starting and was planning to use some wood glue but tape seems much better idea for larger projects. I am confused about the inability of diode lasers to cut acrylic sheets. I just got the printer from creality (diode 22w) and it has specifications for cutting and engraving acrylic sheets. So it possible on diodes? Thanks!
@SixEightWoodworks7 ай бұрын
Diode machines can definitely cut acrylic, they’re just usually limited on the color options. Clear, glittery, and some colors don’t work. So definitely test out before buying a bunch of a particular color. Loads of variables and some tricks though.

blue light diod lasers run on the visible spectrum. they work because opaque items absorb the frequency of the blue light. glass, clear or non opaque acrylics let the light pass through or dont absorb enough for it to work well. Thats why they have etching sprays (like for glass, but wont cut super deep into glass)

The double sided adhesive sheets really help. You have a little play to adjust sections that aren’t in alignment. With glue, it’s there or it’s not:

I made a 12x19 peg board with my laser. I cut down bamboo skewers for the pegs, so I sized my holes for them. I spaced them pretty close together, there's probably somewhere between 1500-2000 holes (I didn't count lol, just kept filling up the space). Place the bottom layer on the board, and the outline it with as many pegs as can get to hit right at the edges all around, the tighter the better. After that, you slide each layer down into the peg outline and down onto the previous layer. Since I started doing that, lining up the edges has become a breeze! I hope I explained that well, a picture would definitely help lol.

@chadtuggle98147 ай бұрын
@swishair thanks, I was too!! I also take a black marker to the edges of the lower layers, so if it still isn't perfect, you can't tell just by looking at it, since any peeking out will blend in with the burnt outside edges
