Loved this video! I was looking to combine the ordinary hyperpigmentation and oily acne skincare routines and I saw some of the same products listed so happy about that and I was definitely layering my products wrong and kept compromising my skin barrier it would be sooo dehydrated 😩 loved the tip about changing up the routine right before your cycle those are the only breakouts I get they last too long and always leave a mark !! You’re a God send!

I love Dr. V she is just awesome. I followed the layering as mentioned but it made my skin burn and my acne worst. I talked with Ordinary and asked why this was happening, they told me not to use niacinamide and VitC together. Use a salicylic cleanser, niacinamide with moisturizer, and sunscreen in the morning. Vitamin C in the night time and not to mix niacinamide and Vit C. Also, they are out of salicylic acid 2% so I am using Cerave SA cleanser in the morning and at night use a simple cleanser like Vanicream cleanser. I use two different cleansers salicylic acid in the morning and a simple one at night because I sometimes use retinoid at night and salicylic acid and retinoid are another not to mix ingredients. Will keep y'all updated. Don't forget your sunscreen and don't give up guys!!

Hi Doc, thanks so much for these informative videos. So happy to finally have expert advice on dark skincare available within the KZbin community. I watched your videos on the recommended and not recommended products from The Ordinary but didn't hear you mention anything about Azelaic Acid. You mentioned it briefly during your layering videos but I wanted to get your take on whether its a recommendation or not.

Thank you so much for this video! I have been following this routine (minus the salicylic acid because it's out of stock) for 2 weeks and my skin has significantly improved! I also use the Ordinary's salicylic acid mask twice a week. I'm a vegan, don't eat process food, drink lots of water and don't wear any makeup so I assumed I was just condemned to bad skin for the rest of my life. Finally, something that works!

Hi Dr V! I'd love to follow the routines you've recommended but the Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate 10% seems to be out of stock for a while now. Are there any other substitute products you'd recommend?

try Naturium's Vitamin C serum with Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate. I did some research and it seems safe to use and doesn't decrease efficiency of other serums/products you use since it is also a derivative from Vitamin C and is also water based.
