You were close. You take a right on 8th by the rainbow or used to be called the blue moon, and it is the tan and green (or at least they used to be that color) condos on your right. Layne lived on the top floor. Its a smaller complex. Its only about 5 or 6 stories.

Layne didnt live on the top floor. He was 2nd from the top. His veranda faced west. I know cause i was there several times.

MrJaman.....King county records differ from your story...they say 5th floor / top floor. There were likely 2 condos on the top floor. How is it you were at Layne's condo?

Also, it wasn't until I was in the line of traffic to get back "home" that I thought to take a video clip. And in response to crazy comments about my driving, I was obviously not LOOKING INTO THE CAMERA WHILE DRIVING. I was watching the road the whole time, and holding the camera with my other hand, hoping to capture a semi-decent shot of the area. This tiny clip wasn't intended to be a brilliant documentary. But rest assured if I ever do return to Seattle, you'll see a better video.

point of this video is, i for one am interested in were layne staley spent his last moments. i myself am fighting an addiction(will not name it),but find it helpful to read about this amazing man whom brought us this great music at a great cost to himself.

Yeah I lived in Wallingford (43rd and Sunnyside) that day they found him... as I recall he was found right around where you were looking in this vid (47TH and 8TH), NOT in Bellevue.

Just addressing a few of the comments. (Damn, it's been three years since I took this clip already?) I DID in fact park and walk around the area, but at the time I had no idea what building I was looking for. I would have stayed and pried into the search more, but I was actually on a tight schedule that day, and most of my time out there. As some people have pointed out, you can see Layne's building near the end of the video.

Just to follow up, several people have told me that I was in fact in the correct area, and now having seen an actual picture of the residence, it looks like it could be the building with the green roof visible on the right side of the street near the end of the video. And to answer the above question: the song playing is "Maritime" by Isis.

By the way the Rainbow bar is no longer....they sold it and changed the name to "Fusion." They also painted the building black. Sucks!
