Now this is good reporting! Working conditions in the game development industry have been abysmal for decades! One of my best friends, whose dad worked on Daikatana and other big titles from 20 years ago, was forced to sleep at work for months during crunch time on many of the games he worked on. This is not an expectation you see in most other professions, and it's not one that should be tolerated when studios drop entire departments of devs like Woody in Toy Story as soon as they're ready to publish.

The industry is seeing a high % of lay offs but it is important to acknowledge the size of the industry these days. Healthcare saw 60k layoffs in 23, though that industry is 9x larger

Three more factors that are sucking the joy from gaming is live service gaming , having to be online for single player gaming and don't games don't allow you to restart the game fresh. It's pure BS to force a person to be online to play the online portion of a game. One instance of the his is GT7. With GT7 not only do they use live service but the single player (cafe bs) only works online and they Wong allow you to start from a fresh save unless you create a new playstation account. Which is why I haven't played GT7 since July last year. I want to start over and play single player modes offline.

So odd.. didnt mention the higher search engine score of "refund" for a recent suicide squad epic fail.. or WHY it, and the games forced focus on said same failure the last three years... All coincide. HMMM.. wonder why? Something is broke.. and profits seem to match this failed investment against what actually sells. Why, its almost like there is a disconnect between.. reviews.. and reality. Crazy huh?
