I know it's an old video but it's new to me: 1. Add the milk before the hot water - hot water straight onto Raw Honey will destroy a lot of the goodness the honey is bringing. 2. I use a plastic sports water bottle exclusively for making this, I don't care if the plastic stains from the turmeric as it's the only thing it is used for - easy to drink from that without mess, and easier to mix it all together. 3. I know you said you don't need black pepper in this, personally I think it improves the flavour of the Ginger by giving it slightly more background heat - all preference though.

The research shows that adding ground pepper increases absorption 2,000 percent. I think I will stick with the evidence from research and add the pepper.

I’m sure this goes without saying, as she is a nutritionist, however there was no mention of it and some people do not know. For better health use Ceylon cinnamon. Cassia cinnamon, the type most prolific on grocery store shelves, is toxic to the liver and kidneys. Once I switched to Ceylon the difference I noticed was the richness of flavor. It takes a bit longer to blend Ceylon cinnamon, but so worth it. Thank you for this recipe, I can’t wait to try it! Many blessings to all.

This is crystallization, and I actually love when my honey dose this becuase it tells me that it's real honey, kinda like when olive oil thickens and emulsifys in cold temperatures. This type of honey is still perfect but is amazing to use as a face,and body scrub as well! The crunchy texture is grate with smooth peanut butter as well!

@@lovemidnight6377 any oil will thicken in colder temperatures...It is in no way an indication that the oil is real. Also it's impossible for an oil to emulsify by itself. An emulsion is a mixture of two or more liquids that are normally immiscible (unmixable or unblendable)
@lenwenzel74402 жыл бұрын
One thing about adding black pepper with tumeric. It increases the anti inflammatory properties of tumeric. It does not block absorption of any of the other components of tumeric. It's the whole range of phytonutrients acting together that give us those benefits which curcumin by itself can't match, or with black pepper can't match.

The weird thing is, I started doing this about 10 years ago just as an easy way to get turmeric into me each day because I can't handle swallowing capsules. So I just came up with the idea in my own head that it would be really easy to get it down as a warm, spiced, creamy drink. I had no idea "golden milk" was an ancient Ayurvedic remedy or that turmeric lattes were going to become so popular. I wish I had; I'd have made a video, too! I have it before bedtime and it's SOOOOO comforting, especially when I'm not feeling great, which is usually (I have a chronic illness). I do always add black pepper because I love that extra kick of spice, plus I figure it couldn't hurt. And sometimes when I'm tired or lazy, I just put half a tablespoon of turmeric into cocoa. Why not? I'm all about getting it in any way possible. LOL

That's awesome, you're ahead of the times! Mmmm, I never thought of putting cacao in it, but that would be a nice combination. Thanks for sharing.

@tommidd80424 жыл бұрын
Add the black pepper, piperine, yes its needed even with ground turmeric. I'd add some real butter or olive oil, just a tea spoon of either. Important note: Even ground organic turmeric has been found to have small traces of lead. Adds to the shipping weight = $$$$, FDA over looks it. Grind up the root yourself.

Shakti Yoga Center I’m glad to hear you’re so smart. 👍🏻Turmeric in therapeutic doses like you might take in a supplement form (i.e. isolated curcumin) is NOT safe which is likely what you have learned. In whole food form it’s perfectly fine such as when you eat curry, drink a latte, sprinkle on popcorn is indeed safe. Much like many herbs and foods are safe in a whole food form but not medicinal/therapeutic doses.

When I make mine all the turmeric goes to the bottom. I need to keep stirring. If I don’t mix it can I drink it that way?

How often can i drink this? I know turmeric thins out the blood. I'm anaemic, should I worry about my intake of turmeric?
@joyoushealth5 жыл бұрын
Shannon Leiba if you’re anemic then I would not recommend it on a daily basis nor would I reco it as a supplement but drinking this a few times a week should be fine. If you’re not sure, please check with your doctor or natural healthcare practitioner.

Do the dried spices dissolve with the hot water or do they remain 'grainy'?
@joyoushealth7 жыл бұрын
Yes, the hot water will help them to dissolve!

Hello! First time watching your videos. It sounded pretty good and it looked very easy, so I tried it. Now, I don’t normally eat a lot of turmeric or ginger. And, ginger is not my favorite spice, though cinnamon definitely is! But I liked it. Didn’t love it, but I could see myself drinking this at least weekly, if not more so. Mine was barely warm (after adding the almond milk),so I might add ice and make it a iced latte next time. Or, maybe even put it in my Vitamix and heat it up that way. And, I am hoping it grows on me. Thanks for the recipe!!

Turmeric is definitely a flavour that grows on you. Also you may want to add more honey to sweeten it up more if you find it too potent.

Thanks! I’ll try that.

Did you warm up the milk before putting it in, or did you put it in cold? I ask because all the other turmeric latte recipes I've seen involve simmering the milk on the stove/gently cooking the turmeric and milk together or something and that always seems like so much work!!
@joyoushealth6 жыл бұрын
I did not, that's why this recipe is called the "lazy lady" turmeric latte :)

Can you use liquid turmeric in place of the ground in this recipe?
@joyoushealth6 жыл бұрын
Like juiced turmeric? Yes I'm sure that would work!
@rhomo6 жыл бұрын
Joyous Health actually it’s in a bottle with a dropper. A little bigger than an essential oil bottle. I’ve been adding it to my tea.

Hmm I've never seen that. I wouldn't be able to guarantee results, but if you try it and like it, please let me know! Just make sure it's food grade :)
