I have made pork chops like this since the 70's, maybe even the 60's, I don't remember exactly, but it's been a long time. I always browned the chops first, then did the Spanish rice flavor, adding extra garlic. Really good.

Too long didn't read... Actual pork chop segment starts at 4:40, after all the extra talking up front. Thanks BOB for the fast forward (right arrow) key. Meat tends to stay juicy when you boil it. I'd be a little less lazy, add a step by taking the cooked chops out & sear them to add a bit of a "crust". Just my preference, some may like the boiled texture.

I call green onions *table onions*...that's what my grandma from Hungary called them. I think that might be because she would just cut the root off, wash them and set them on the table for everyone to pick up an onion and eat raw with a little salt, if you chose. I still eat them like that.

@govenormac usually your meat has touched many things before getting to your kitchen. The butcher had to cut it and you hope it was sanitized. If not, just give it a good rub under water. It also removes any bone pieces that might be hanging on from the butcher cutting the meat. chicken is the worst for that.
