I think an LGR online charity auction would clear out some of your excess goodies! Partner up with a bunch of retro tech tubers, hold a big auction and have the stuff get re-homed to people that are interested in its preservation. Its a win-win-win!

I've been wanting to get something like that going for years, but it's almost impossible to get funding because there's no real profit in it for investors. Some cities might give small grants for cultural reasons, but even that's tenuous. The best thing we've ever gotten is the national video game museum in Texas.

The thing I used to enjoy the most was LGR Tech Tales. I felt more long term value in those episodes. The best part is that they don’t require collecting a bunch of stuff that takes over your house and life. I hope you’re able to resume doing those maybe in place of things like unboxing etc.

Yeah, it's got to be a weird feeling. People send you stuff completely out of the blue because it's a passion for you and they know you'll get joy from it. Then, in the end, it becomes a major chore and it kills a lot of the fun for you. I can't say that I "understand" it, given I have nothing to compare it to, but I certainly understand it on a theoretical level.

Nowhere is safe. I got burgled and lost my entire retro games collection. I am glad I sent some rare bits to you before that. This is a good move, I hope that this gives you a chance to revisit what surviving items you already have and do a video of each one working, for preservation that least that these things even exist, at least until a museum which can handle this comes along.

Did you not have cameras at least? Seems like a no-brainer if you have an expensive and extensive collection. If you have anything particularly rare set up some eBay search alerts for those titles and monitor to see if anything hits.

I remember Design Your Own Railroad. And yes, that is an enthusiast level program for Model Railroads. Sadly, it needed better graphics, because it got confusing with just the display designs as to which car rectangle was which. They would eventually make a 3d version in the late 90s, and then go out of business soon after.

That first package was one of the highest effort figurines I've ever seen someone create. Normally it's a slap job or poorly designed. But that. That even made me go "woah".

Fortunately - and I'm speaking for myself here - we have the other unboxings still, and they are just as much fun to rewatch; in my opinion, even more so: a kind of soothing, homely rerun of erstwhile pleasure. In fact, the same applies to the 'thriftings': rewatchable without any problem, even if only for Clint's dry and witty asides and seemlessly flowing running commentary.

Man, Cobra Mission is on my wishlist for so long now. I'm jealous ;D By luck, I got my hands on the super rare original Japanese PC-98 of it for like 20 bucks recently. Cobra Mission is kinda fun, but the RPG elements are rather basic and the game lacks decent balancing. Dragon Knight III was the Japanese title of Knights of Xentar. Megatech released one last game which is not in the catalogue in the video. It's called PowerDolls.
