The journalist in question about 3 years ago wrote a piece about the NHS needing dismantling. Someone who worked for the NHS took to twitter and pulled her argument to pieces. Nothing personal apart from a jibe about those who want rid can always afford to go private. Did she respond with counter argument and accept his right to free speech? Nope she threatened him via her 'contacts in govt' to have him sacked. She only believes in free speech for herself....not others...and without consequence. Awful woman but about par for the torygraph.

From the age of around 17, I read the Telegraph daily. Not in isolation, I also read several other broadsheets including the Guardian, Times, Independent etc... It was unquestionably, the only way to understand reality. By reading every story from the perspective of various political angles. As we approached the EU referendum vote, I had to end my three decade + daily readership of the Torygraph because it had become such an unapologetically dishonest vehicle for propoganda. On the rare occasions that I dip back into it's reporting? It is absolutely clear that it has chosen to continue in that role post Brexit. Which saddens me. It used to be an excellent daily journal on the world. It's now a journalistic sewer.

If it is about that particular post Pearson showing her stupidity. She criticised the Met Police when it was infact Manchester Police, and the people involved were Pakistanis.

Not exactly the sharpest knife in the kitchen drawer. I always was under the impression journos checked their facts? Clearly that's not the case here, with Pearson.

@@paultaylor7082 The assumption you make is that she is a 'journalist'. I tend to think that she and her ilk are simply mouthpieces for their employers. Mercenaries, prepared to do the work of those who pay their grossly inflated salaries.

The Police say the were acting on a complaint from a member of the Public so are they duty bound to investigate. Initially the incident was reported in the Press with only one side of the story available. If the Police have video evidence of their conversation with Ms Pearson surely that’s pretty conclusive. Why have Politicians come out with one sided comments before they knew the full story.

What misinformation was actually spread about the disgusting Southport murders?

I do think we need to support the police here. Having seen what has just happened in the USA where misinformation was a main factor. We need to stamp on misinformation hard wherever it is found.

'Journalistic accuracy'..... The Telegraph's editorial team still maintain that Liz Truss' budget was the greatest budget ever presented and rhat she was indeed undermined by a Trotsky network within global financial markets. They used to be a respected albiet conservative newspaper....complete joke now

I have had the police visit me at the behest of Gove and another tory MP. For something that contained no threats, just they should consider their position in its fullest meaning.

The Torygraph* although I'd argue it's got even more loony in recent years.

The police have their orders also, they are just every day people in uniform. They are “meant” to be able to do their job without political interference but apparently the lines are quite blurred.
@alantheinquirer76583 сағат бұрын
The most ridiculous part of this is that *initially* the police 'warned' someone called Allison Pearson ... who *wasn't* actually the journalist concerned!
@ammaopoku539730 минут бұрын
I believe the police and it’s not often I say this… but I believe them in this instance. I believe she’s wrong I believe she knows she’s wrong. I believe the telegraph now that they’re wrong that they won’t come out and publicly admit it. The truth always comes to light…. It always comes out.

I’m not at all surprised at the Telegraphs response! It’s gone further & further right wing, don’t think it would hesitate to spread misinformation.

Do you know how they used to solve these disputes over misinformation in historical Britain? It's something called Honor and they would duel to the death by physically fighting about it. And so if the information wasn't really that important, then it wouldn't result in a duel to the death.

I thought it was established some days ago now that the the tweet they are talking about was a DIFFERENT Alison Pearson?!! Why are they still talking about it?

Hilariously the Sunday Telegraph today was leading with Julie Bindel complaining about having been spoken to by the police for a tweet. Pearson and Bindel: two of the grimmest right wing journalist you'd ever what to avoid.
