I understood his story about the missing $50.00 from the perspective of the receiver. My four children and I found ourselves deserted with no income and no job. We were reduced to digging in the car and furniture for change to get milk. I told Heavenly Father in prayer that I had done all I could do and I was leaving it in his hands. The next day there was an envelope in the mailbox with no message but a $100.00 bill inside. To this day, 4 decades later, I don't know who provided food and power to us that day but in my mind it was an Angel sending a miracle in answer to prayer. Never ignore a prompting from the Holy Ghost. You might be someone's angel from God.

I ran into Steven Covey by accident while working at a low paying job. He spent over an hour learning about me and then inspired me to do what i wanted to do and live more purposely....He had a way of making a person feel valued. Truly a legendary man! Sometimes i cant believe that story. 😂❤

My father and his siblings received great education because the church had built a school in the small Island from Tonga… Liahona HS..he and his siblings were able to further their education at BYU, Hawaii. His older sister received her masters degree and the rest recvd their BA. Sooo thankful that the church help push the importance of education in the small island of Tonga.

THIS WAS PIVOTAL!!! Thank you Brother Wilcox and Ensign College. I was hooked at his initial story of Steven R Covey. I too have altruistic desires to put my resources or FUTURE resources to philanthropic use. I am now 39, married, have lots of kids. I am nearly 20 years older than most of his audience there. I see that I could have been doing this sooner. I know 39 is still young, so with rededication I will take the lessons learned and apply!

It's such a blessing to have the teachings of Jesus Christ, so that we can try to emulate him in trying to teach others charity, by showing our love for everyone! We can use our money to bless those around us, which we should do, but we don't need to be rich to bless people. We should take time to do community service, like working at a homeless shelter.

I agree that we should not stop the work of the lord and invite and do all the things he is saying to do but I disagree with the premise that we would not be ready if Christ came tomorrow. How many people in Utah are put out to pasture? How many YW presidents, Relief Society presidents, Bishops etc are sitting idle in Utah waiting for something worthwhile to do? Thousands!!! And how many good people are in the world that when Christ comes will be able to learn his full gospel and preach his word within hours of his return. Thousands! There are already built millions of Christian churches that would house millions of people once taught the gospel by the savior himself.

That is simply not true that more education brings people to the church
@TheHappyNarwhals2 ай бұрын
He said members are more educated as a whole than the “regular” population which is true. As our level of education goes up our activity in the church goes up as well. He didn’t say as people are more educated they join the church
@King_Puffleump2 ай бұрын
@@TheHappyNarwhals and that statement is not true. Of course there are some that are educated that stay, but so many members that are educated and become more educated, leave.

If education is so important how come the Church never told us that some of our tithing went to give support for a college education to some but not common knowledge? Is obtaining a college education part of feeding the hungery, clothing the naked and liberating the captive and promoting the gospel of Jesus Christ? Just in the last few years I learned some of my tithing went to help others get a college education without my approval. At what point does the Church become a business instead of Christ's Church?

So sad you don’t have the knowledge that is commonly known
@MrFishwalker2 ай бұрын
@@avonbingham9226 What is sad is the LDS church first presidency illegally hiding $32B in shell corporations and lying about it. Then getting a slap on the wrist by the SEC. One of the reasons the leaders did this was because they were afraid the members would stop paying tithing due to the vast amounts of wealth the church has. That's in the SEC report if you want to go read it.
