This talk came to mind as I recognized I need to repent of a repeated sin yet again. I imagined standing on the shore with the Savior, having experienced so much that draws me to him yet my weakness finds me back at a place he already called me away from. I could hear him saying “why are you here? Why are we back on this same shore, by these same nets, having this same conversation? Wasn’t it obvious then and isn’t it obvious now that if I want fish, I can get fish? What I need…are disciples-and I need them forever. I need someone to feed my sheep and save my lambs. I need someone to preach my gospel and defend my faith. I need someone who loves me, truly, truly loves me, and loves what our Father in Heaven has commissioned me to do.” Keeping the commandment to love God has the power to ripple through our entire lives, it makes all the difference when my primary goal is to love God and I do my best to seek his will and act on it. I’m grateful to feel His love even when rebuked by the spirit, it’s not a feeling of shame but an invitation to move forward and do His will. Thank you for your profound and inspired words Elder Holland. They continue to change my life and draw me closer to the Savior ❤
