The Tourette Syndrome Association had an initial panic when they heard of this episode, but afterwards, they released a statement saying it was surprisingly well-researched and actually had a lot of accurate information. Their main issue was the focus on the involuntary swearing, which most with Tourette's don't have.

The funniest part about all the bad guys offing themselves is that earlier in the episode Hansen implied that he actually faked that the first guy did it, actually offing him himself... And instead it turns out that it's actually their default response, so all that menace was for nothing XD

Assistant DA Bill Conradt offed himself on november 5, 2006. last two episodes of south park season 10 were aired on november 8 and 15, 2006. i think the SP creators kind of put this incident on their shelf until the season 11. then they included that in this episode that was aired on october 3, 2007.

@imetzl934012 сағат бұрын
Its also kind of meta because Cartman says he finally gets to go on National Television and say whatever he wants, and South Park was able to get past network censors by having kids who have tourettes curse in the show and it not be bleeped out

This episode is yet another example proving that Cartman's worst enemy is his own lack of impulse control. Always has been. He could have had a good laugh for a couple of days, but he decided to be extra when he thought he was untouchable. This is just like when he ran his mouth one too many times to Wendy, but like clockwork, Cartman didn't know when to stop.

I enjoyed this episode, but it added to the stigma that people with Tourette Syndrome cuss, when it's actually only like 10% of people that have those types of tics. Also, Cartman would have had to experience both motor and vocal tics for at least one year before he could be diagnosed.

The guy who shot himself was a county politician. He never showed up to the sting, but Texas State Law says it is illegal to solicitated sex from a minor, so the online conversations was enough to arrest him if they could trace back who it was. They did and law enforcement showed up to his house, and the TV crew filmed from a distance. He never came to the door, but a gun shot was eventually heard form inside.

What's really messed up is that if you watch the season 2 episode "Merry Christmas Charlie Manson" you actually get to meet a lot of Cartman's extended family in Nebraska (including a bunch of cousins), and if the cousin that Eric claimed to touch weiners with is the one I'm thinking of, he was only about 2-4 years old at the time!

The writers of this show and episode did such a good job of taking an evil, racist, anti semitic and just flat out horrible person like Cartman, and actually make me legit feel bad for him for a moment when he says "I cry at night cause I dont have a dad." As a teenager I never thought much about that line, but now in my 30s thats so heartbreaking and says so much!!! lol He's still evil though.
