Just from this tutorial, I've noticed that I don't do a couple things with progressive house leads that I probably should do, so this video was still very helpful to me. If you use it in a send channel you have more control on it and can clean it with eq and so, but the rest is the same

Just by listening. If you have one lead that has good body and warmth, use that for the mids and look for one that has better highs

It does matter how many layers you're using, when you use more than needed, that will just serve to muddy up the mix, so the important thing is that each layer has it's own purpose, also each layer must be unique, when you use too similar layers your mix will be muddy, this also happens when you use too many layers, I think the maximum is 14 layers, and no more.

No, there is no maximum ammount of layers, the more you use the more difficult will be to mix them, but if you want to use 40 layers for the leads, do it. Ofc, not saying you need 40, probably you will have a lot of layers that are doing nothing, BUT, you can do it
