How to lead when you have no authority, no title, no position of power, no budget and no paid staff Mary is the founder of Solidarite Ukraine, a non-profit effort that has supported hundreds of Ukrainian women and children in France, where she lives with her husband and six kids. Mary also serves as an investor and board member of several leading international organizations such as Imperial College London. With a passion for impact, she is also author of a book: Leading Organizations: Ten Timeless Truths with Scott Keller. Mary, this is fantastic, moving and to say the least, necessary. This can be a cultural blueprint for all of us, specially in these times where wars are no more aberrations.

Mary has absolutely great character, kindness and leadership. She is also a wonderful speaker. When she talked about the story when a Ukrainian mother had to leave Ukraine on foot with her newly born baby in freezingly cold weather, my eyes were wet. Wish Ukraine can win the war soon and Ukrainians can start rebuilding their homeland. Slava Ukraini.

When I think about leadership, when I think about a servant leader, it occurs to me that these are personified in Mary Meaney. Although our homes are only 5km apart, it wasn't until the invasion that I had the chance to get to know her as an organizer, a humanitarian and what I can best describe as a relentless force of nature. Crises such as these reveal the true nature of a person. What I have learned about her and Ian and all their family is that there are a lot of people out there willing to step up, set an example and do the right thing. To help others with no expectation of getting anything in return. I can recall sitting in my home in Saint Omer, late February 2022 and my wife and I agreed that if needed we would accommodate Ukrainians fleeing the war. Ok, cool, eh? But then we learned about Mary, and how they turned their home and farm into one large Ukrainian centre. It was, and still is, the nerve centre for Ukrainian support in the Saint Omer area. I think what some people may not fully grasp is the concept of leading without authority. France is still a hierarchical society; your titles and your position truly have a significance that should not be overlooked. I have noticed it when my wife went from regular, everyday “madame” to “Madame la Conseillère Municipale”. That Mary was able to accomplish so much, through her effort, her organizational skills, and her persistence, is a testimony to the underlying theme of this talk. You can lead without authority, without having a title, without being a part of a formal hierarchy. If you believe in it, and if you focus on the goal, (as the song goes ... Keep your eyes of the prize) you can accomplish something remarkable. I am privileged to be able to call Mary my friend now. She is inspirational, she sets an example, and is a tough act to follow.

Que vous découvriez enfin l'agilité et la puissance du travail collectif qui a pu constituer toutes nos sociétés à travers les associations les syndicats les coopératives les mutuelles les fédérations les conseils municipaux etc n'est pas trop tard. C'est à se demander ce que vous savez des mouvements sociaux qui ont construit nos sociétés.😅 Comment faites vous pour parler d'Ukraine sans évoquer un seul instant LA PAIX ? Vous avez 6 enfants. Pourquoi vous ne parlez pas des enfants du Donbas qui ont été tués et bombardés de 2014 jusqu'en 2022 conformément aux desiderata de POROCHENKO qui souhaitait à tous ces enfants de vivre dans des caves ? (Vous trouverez sans difficulté sa vidéo sur KZbin) Vous etiez où pendant ce temps ? Qu'est-ce que c'est que cette façon d'aider sans parler une seule fois des causes de cette guerre et a minima de parler des accords de Minsk. L'ukraine ne vous intéresse que quand une opération de pacification est ENFIN menée au bout de 8 ans par des ukrainiens soutenus par la Russie alors que l'ONU ne faisait rien et alors que l'OTAN formait des militaires Ukrainiens pour bombarder les civils du Donbas 👍 Ce centre de formation de l'OTAN sera bombardé le 13 mars 2022 Madame, que faites vous pour la paix à part maintenir un narratif où la guerre serait un fait tombé du ciel INÉVITABLE inhérent à l'univers et SANS CAUSE sur lequel il ne faut pas s'interroger. Vous avez 6 enfants et vous ignorez que des milliers d'enfants ont été bombardés dans le DONBASS depuis 2014 ? Vous construisez la paix avec vos réfugiés Ukrainiens ou vous n'hebergez que ceux de l'ouest pas ceux du Donbass ? Si un jour il vous prend l'envie de comprendre la cause de cette guerre, il vous suffira d'aller installer des bases militaires indiennes chinoise russes ou iraniennes à Cuba et vous verrez la réaction immediate des Américains. Les Américains qui à travers l'OTAN visent à ruiner ENCORE l'Europe comme en 40. (gazoduc énergie recession réarmement et guerre)
