@@tannersimpson2286 Because in Gens 1-3, all moves of a given type were either physical or special based solely on the type, it wasn't until Gen 4 when physical/special was sorted by a move's own attributes. Dark was one of the "special" types, even though (fun fact) when Gen 4 rolled around, every existing Dark move was switched to qualify as a physical attack by its own merits, making Dark's placement as a special type in the first place make no sense at all; similarly, Ghost was a physical type, even though most of its moves became special after the split, making its placement equally illogical. Just another example of Game Freak being Game Freak.

scykoh i dont know if you know this but until gen 4 the physical or special based was on attack itself but on the type instead (when you use bite on kadabra on 12:15 it counts as a special move because its dark type)
