In our area in Ontario our trails.had to put in a reservation system since busses were coming from toronto to see the waterfalls and leaves. It worked but sucks for us locals. The throngs of tourists were parking everywhere, in front of peoples driveways, leaving trash on people's lawns even picnicking on their.lawns and the crowds were wider than the trails.and you could not walk without stepping on someone's heals. I blame social media. These places used to only be known by the locals and then Facebook and KZbin came out and boom over loaded. Even a farmer who had a huge sunflower feild had to get security to stop people from trampling his feild from all the tourist who came to take pictures that were posted on social media then went viral and everyone from the city came.

I have also seen the influencers NOT appropriately dressed. I was in Turkey in a hot balloon ride in the middle of the winter. This girl was wearing heels, a white cotton dress, and full on make-up and hair. No coats or anything. Of course her boyfriend had all this elaborate camera equipment. She was shivering the whole time 😂

Research the area and trails you are thinking of using . Know your limits and the limits of the people you will be with. If you are new to this take it easy. know the weather and dress accordingly . Wear comfortable shoes NOT GO GO BOOTS.

NH needs to start charging to access to these trails in the fall for out of state visitors. Build some parking lots and charge $50/day to park during the foliage. Tow anyone parked in the side roads. It’s simple.

@@Wickedpissah138 I agree that it's annoying for someone who probably lives there. I noticed that on the federal land there was a lot of rope along the road to prevent people from parking. Perhaps they could try surge pricing during the leaf peeping season, although there might be some federal law against that. I was up in that area this weekend and I stayed away from the Lincoln area. I had enough of the crowds. I do think you need to consider that tourism is important for the businesses in that area after this week I'm sure it dies down quite a bit.

@@superfisher4379 tourism doesn’t bring in as much as people think. Hurts the residents more than it helps. Tourists is why us residents have to pay nearly 9% tax just to eat at a restaurant. It’s ridiculous. Bike week and the Lake regions property taxes is enough 😅
