Tom's face at Joey's joke at the end. Had me rolling. 😂 But I agree with comments made in the review. It is a light game, but it's got such an enjoyable aesthetic with the interesting & tactile connecting leaf tip mechanic that I think it works. Even if you like crunchy games, some days you just want to chill & remember how much you like Autumn.

We really love this game. The wooden leaves alone are one of our favorite game components. A light breezy game that's perfect for a family game night.

After seeing the scoring they gave I went and looked what Tom and Joey gave Cascadia. Whilst I dont agree - they are consistent! Solid 8 for me! Does what it is trying to do superbly without blowing anyone away :) Edit: Oh and no comment on the insert?

Am I the only person who doesn’t feel this game is light…? I mean there are like 5 things to take care of (well the seasoning track as well to be honest). And there is area control, to be frank that’s quite a bit to manage for non gamers. Most likely they will sit there thinking. Wait what should I do now. If I do this I benefit him this, but wait I am behind in the tree track… I feel there is no issue the tree granting other actions, although I do see what Tom meant when he said it’s not exciting. Because it doesn’t give anything unique or special on the journey to the top. One thing I am not sure is the strategy part of the game. It appears the game give multiple solution to achieve a high score (animals, climbing tree track etc). But from my test play it seems that the thing that really matter is the mushroom area control. The sunlight that leads to season track progression is just massive. If you missed that and focus on other areas I think you can hardly be winning although I am not sure if it is impossible. It’s like 6-4 points a step (3 suns) whereas animals probably just give same amount of points every 3 seasons and the tree track only gives 6 at the end of the game. But I will say that area control bit is quite interesting. You will want to avoid at all costs giving away sun to other players. Anyway, not sure how this game will turn out for me. I will need to look at the expansions.

It was a fun game but what I remember most was barely winning with what seemed like less than ideal moves against actions others took that I thought should have beaten me. I think this game could be better with some more design thought and without changing much. As it is it was still fun.

Relaxing and perfect for gateway level - it should be regarded as a solid contender for a modern day staple gateway game. In regards to Toms point about the tree - the reason the tree track has other actions on it is because you don't always have the colour leaf to do the actions you want to do, so the tree allows you to do those actions anyway while still levelling you up it.

Only issue is the icons in the leaves needed to be bigger to be colorblind friendly. (I have the wooden version) The expansion adds some extra actions and challenges for more advanced gaming

I think some games are over-analyzed, because they belong in "family weight" segment which desperately needs games like that.
