Love your channel (being depressed myself its comforting not struggling alone) I find fly lady system the best to get started when depressed, I love the little steps. Oh and for the zone, the secret slob has a very good detailed cleaning list, and tips on how to create your own zones

I’ve done the FlyLady system for a few years now. It has saved my sanity. For zones - *Divide your home with what flows best for you. *Make a master list for each zone and check it off as you do it each month. *Start off with where you left off the next month. You won’t get it all done , especially when you are first starting 😊 *15 minutes a day for 5 days a week…. Seriously… 15 minutes. *If the zone you are in is needing decluttered - do that instead of cleaning until you have it under control. You can do it ! It gets easier each month I promise ❤️

I'm in stitches that you referenced having a No Bones Day! I'd forgotten about the Pug barometer, but it's so useful and makes me smile❤️! Also, I have a cleaning business (lol, it's just me, but that's still a business!) and I'm so, so sorry you reached out and were hurt. I've thought about starting a channel called "Good Enough Cleaning" because there's plenty out there about detail work, decluttering and minimizing - all great in its own way, but so many people also need a peek at what it looks like to be good, ol' Good Enough! You're message is a valuable addition to the mix because sometimes just getting up is a triumph. I feel so comforted by your invitation to join you for a while. Your family and home are beautiful, and you are warm and welcoming and feel safe to be real with. Thank you for putting your introverted self out there for us! ☺️💗 (young and old, btw. My children are all grown)

I do the same thing girl, used to cry and go into a panic attack if someone followed too closely from accident trauma too. By the time I was 34 (38 now) I had been in 6 wrecks none my fault or with me driving and only 2 sent me to the hospital, thankfully. So you have my sympathy and understanding.

Awe thanks. I was hit from behind and that probably has a lot to do with why I am such an anxious passenger. That was just one accident so I can only imagine my anxiety after 6.

I made 8 zones so will be touching everything on a 2 month cycle. And I live in a duplex with 1 bath and 2 bedrooms! But that allows for me to not do a 15 min "hustle style" of cleaning. I need 30-1 hour to justify starting. 15 minutes just doesn't seem worth starting (at this point). Glad I'm tuning into you Ms Leaf and look forward to see how things progress for you. While Eric might not like your channel, he is adorable. You're so fortunate! And pat on the back to your girls: potstickers aren't something everyone likes, but at least she tried it! I love how her sister accepted her reject, now that's family.

one of the best things iv ever done for my depression and guilt over not being able to keep a clean house because of health issues was to hire a housekeeper. She only does the absolute basics that need to be done at least once a week. Depression and physical limitations are bad enough but then you throw in the guilt that's associated with those two things you become completely debilitated. Although I feel guilty for spending the money for her to come out , I do feel that it's worth it because it motivates me to actually get up and do something. Keep up the good work I love your channel.

I like the trick you did with the eye makeup. I have hooded eyes too. I hope Steven got the job. The third interview is a big deal. I spent 2 months in China and most of the food they serve us over here they don't even have over there. The do have a lot of American food and fast food but even the fast food places have there own take on things. Your days are super busy so I can see how you would be worn out by 7pm. I really enjoy your videos.

When I first started Fly Lady, I was overwhelmed at all my stuff and all that needed to be done. I would stop and start her program over and over. But then i started watching many other cleaning & Fly Lady inspired channels, I realized I needed to declutter first and then I could do the cleaning. So for my first 2-3 months, instead of the deep cleaning that is detailed in the Fly Lady zones, I decluttered and kept the walkways cleared. Once I got into the cleaning aspect, I then picked from the list what I really needed to work on and I started with the visible areas. Cobwebs could wait for another time…or for the cat to get them. I also do my weekly blessing on Sundays as it just fits better with my schedule. You can pick and choose what works for you - and you can edit the app so it is more tailored to your home. For example, I updated the app to add “Clean Cat Litter Boxes” to my daily morning routine. This way I know it gets done and I know the cat appreciates it too - she’s a rascal so I have to keep her happy! The whole process is a lot to take on all at once so start with the daily routines, then add zones into the day/week and then add Daily Focus. If done step by step, over a period of time (1-3 months), it is much easier to maintain and helps you to stick with it!

It is so uplifting to see you succeed and be honest about your struggles. I can relate and know I’m not alone in the crazy mama life. Please post your cleaning videos! I tend to clean when watching them and they really help me. I made up my own zones based on how much time stuff takes and actually follow “the secret slob” over the fly lady. All the steps like getting ready clutter up my already overwhelming To-Do lists.

Fly Lady lists are suggestions and ideas. Definitely not doing everything on the list. You choose a few to do for 15 minutes or so each day. When that zone comes around the next month, you do a few other things on the list. As for “ one other room” the laundry room is one I choose there. Again, you do 1 other room. Next month , choose a different extra room for deep cleaning. Over time, everything gets hit. I love your channel!!!

Flylady zones were the hardest thing for me to get. I basically created my own zones in my house based on how my rooms are laid out. Zone 1: Two front bedrooms and guest bathroom. Zone 2: Entrance, Living Room, Dining room Zone 3: Kitchen, Breakfast Nook, and Laundry Room Zone 4: Master bedroom and Master bathroom Zone 5: Front and back porches and general outside stuff. This goes with the flow of my house because each zone is a cluster of rooms next to each other. This works much better for me.

I think that is the key. I was trying to follow it too closely rather than looking at it as a guideline.

Hi Shannon! I like Steph’s fly lady routine better. (a Secret Slob utube). She does her zones on a loop during the month which just eliminates the funky short weeks etc. I also don’t use the same zones. I made mine based on the amt of time it takes to complete. Like my living is attached to the entry way so I do them together. My dining room and kitchen are together in one room so I do them together. My laundry, huge closet, and bathroom are in one large room so I do them all together. Then I do 2 bedrooms and a sm bathroom upstairs all together. For the weekly blessing I took off mopping and that just goes into the zone cleaning. I do spot mop as needed whenever it happens. I work my porch and breeze way into the anti-procrastination week item. Steph has fantastic forms you can customize and a simplified list of to dos in each zone. I’ve only had to add one or two additional things like clean cat litter. One page form for one week. Basically still fly lady but I’m less overwhelmed. Flylady website and lists make me dizzy and I just want to avoid!!! Great going on keeping up with the bathroom. Looks great!! /Tell Stephen sorry for all the red heart confetti in his truck, but glad you got a laugh from it!! 😍 Love your makeup. So wish I could do mine so pretty as you do! Take care!! Big hugs!! 🌸🌷🌸🌷🌸🌷 Em

Yes secret slob, when she first set up her zones did them on a plan of her house. Here as a 3 bedroom, I did zone 1 as hallway, downstairs toilet, dining room. Zone 2 kitchen (I have no utility room/laundry room). Zone 3 bathroom and second bedroom (second biggest bedroom). Zone 4 master bedroom and bedroom 3 (smallest room). Zone 5 living room. When my children are home from school in holidays I do MR/ER and WHB split over week to keep on top of the house. WHB is in high traffic areas so it can keep my downstairs OK between the Zone cleans. We've recently had an extension so 2 more bedrooms and a shower room added so I'm still trying to figure out how my Zone 3/4 works.

Love A Secret Slob! The looping system was still not working for me, but somebody said something that made me think about trying it on days of the week. I typically have a few parts of my cycle I just don't have the energy. So a couple weeks ago I was a couple weeks in on adding 5 minute pickups during the day.... I was typically getting 2 of the 3 in each day, so I changed the second 1 to 15 minute zone cleaning, and have been working through the weekly cleaning on Saturdays... first day I realized adding the weekly cleaning made the vast majority of the zone tasks done already. So Monday, Wednesday, Friday are my lighter zones, and Tuesday is kitchen, Thursday is bedroom.... and those days I am typically home and don't have much else going on. So it is working out awesome!

The Secret Slob modifies the Flylady System and does zone looping. Basically you start with a zone and do it for a whole week and then move on to the next zone for the next week. It takes a little longer than a month to get through the zones but it's less confusing. I've cut my 3 boys and my husbands hair for over 20 years. I'm finally down to just my husband. It saved us a lot of money over the years!

I love your authenticity. I would love to see you do the zone cleaning, but not if you aren’t comfortable doing it-no need for extra stress or pressure. And your face when you put too much powder on your face! I laughed out loud. You crack me up. Take care of yourself so we can keep seeing your awesome videos😁

You are doing great. I do fly lady as well. Don’t be afraid to tweak it to your needs. I see some else recommended a secret slob to you. I recommend her as well. She made it doable for me. I love your channel.

Oh you're so funny, I love this whole video! "Ancient China didn't have MSG" 😂 Yeah, I didn't really understand the Flylady - I like the morning and evening routines, but the zones?? - Like when do I clean my tubs?!?! and spend 15 minutes in one room every day for 5 days?? That room will be so clean and the rest of the house will fall apart? I didn't quite get it, but I could be overthinking it...lol Have a fabulous day and keep shining!! 🌞

Its to replace the big annual deep cleans folks might already do only in fall and spring. So over time you never do a big deep clean just piecemeal over the course of a year. The weekly reset and her babysteps and commandments are supposed to keep the house together on the weekly/daily. At least that's what I got out of her book!

When I was a kid we washed the bathtub with scrub brush and cleanser after each person bathed. Now only taking showers with no glass doors it maybe gets scrubbed with cleanser about once a qrtr. My mom probably would think I'm a slob if she knew...ha!

I don’t make our bed. My partner is a heavy sweater and I have the menopause night sweats. It’s important to let our bed air out and dry

I made 6 zones instead of 5. You might need to go to 7 or 8 zone,Just makes the system work for you

Have you tried the blue bottle of mascara it's called "maybelline the rocket volume express" I use it and I use my lash curler from the dollar tree and apply it and lasts all day as well as the "maybelline lasting drama matte eye liner color number 860 jet black" I got both from Walgreens and Walmart they both last all day and I believe its waterproof too cause I've cried so many times with it on an havent had them bleed down.

I do my husband's hair. My son has long hair. Last time I trimmed it I gave him a bob and my husband was like why did you make him look like a girl. 🤷♀️ So I may be done. 😂 I am taking a picture of 90s Leo in Romeo and Juliet to a hair cutting place and hoping for the best.

The theory is you fit your rooms into her zones, and you are on top of cleaning with the weekly cleaning.... and then it takes a few months to get through the list for zones..... because those are deep cleaning? Idk, I never got it to work cause I tended th I always be down for the zones that needed the most work.

besides vacuuming your steps what kind of carpet cleaner do you use on them to deep clean them . for the life of me I think of the name of the one I have .. I wish I was like you being able to do a good job at cutting hair on my boys that is not one of my strengths there are other things I am good at . i don't mind washing clothes i just hate folding them and putting them away

You have pretty skin ☺️ add sunscreen to daily routine. I think it would probably help to use FL as a basic example, but decide based on your home which areas the zones actually include. And since there are 5 zones, give each a week instead of going strictly by calendar.

When I was editing I was kicking myself for not mentioning that was another thing I look for in my foundation and another reason I like the one I am using because it has 50spf. When I don't use foundation I do use a Cerave daily lotion with spa built in, but my skin doesn't like it as much.

@@LeafLikeOnATree I use garnier bb cream which also has some protection but one thing I’ve learned in recent years is we still need a dedicated sunscreen.

I’m interested in starting the fly lady’s zone cleaning. But what’s the swish and swipe?
@LeafLikeOnATree2 жыл бұрын
That’s basically a quick wipe down of the counters and toilet.
@gapeach511702 жыл бұрын
If I were you , I would follow the zones FL sets out but you will have to add the rooms that she didn't cover into one of those weeks as well. Don't try to do everything on the cleaning list. Pick a few things that you can do in 15m and do a couple every day. When that zone comes around again just start out where you left off on the list. IMO the daily routines & the WHB are key.
