Not only that but he’s kinda a sadist, not only does he collect them for power but he also tortures the souls he collects. He likes to torture people, gets his jollies off, that’s why senna, although she seems stable after leaving the lantern, it’s heavily implied not only by her eyes that’s she’s been gravely impacted and changed by the ordeal. Lore wise, even before Viego came to the blessed isles (what they were called before they became the shadow isles) he was in charge of managing a relic storage as well as maintaining a convict who had the unique ability of regeneration, so with eyes looked away he committed horrible atrocities upon the prisoner. When Viego came and tried to resurrect Isolde and the dramatic failure of the spell caused the creation of the black mist, he was changed, into a phantom, in this form he gleamed with joy now that he could torture the living and take a hold of their souls in his lantern. I mean most everyone else who turned into a ghost kinda went insane so it’s not like anyone’s really stopping him or even cares to tell him that what he’s doing is wrong. So *shrugs* anyways, just more info on the phantom you see whos called thresh.

I’m so excited that you guys are able to watch and deeply appreciate these cinematics and videos with us the league community, I personally really like the other suggestions recommended so far, phoenix, rise, (both season championship songs) the light within (teaser for an “ultimate” skin for the character Lux who you saw in warriors where in game she change into different elements. Granted it’s a cosmetic change only but still, really lovely cinematic) However one that is near and dear to me that I really want you yo react to is a worlds song called Legends Never Die. It’s such a head banger and the lyrics are inspirational as heck. Other good ones to look at that need to be on your list are Get Jinxed, Seconds, As we Fall (sort of like a cinematic showing how the character Varus came to be but you’ll need to either read up on his lore first or have someone give you a synopsis first before watching this one or you will be so lost) Annie origins, The curse of the sad Mummy, Wild Magic, Call to Power, in case you haven’t seen it yet, K/DA- Villain is a phenomenal cinematic, the cgi artists on that one made everything look like it was real, it’s insane! And there’s still a few more gems from legends of runeterra like Breathe, some of the expansion trailers, the legacy of shuruma part 1 and 2 and there’s just so much! Omg ok I’m sorry I wrote a novel when I told myself I wasn’t going to I am just super stoked to see both of your reactions to all this stuff! Eep!

@@danieldax2112 He had sadist tendencies but the relics he was in charge of corrupted him further. Nobody wanted to even go near them because they feared their power but couldnt leave them unatended because they were too dangerous. Helia (capitol of the blessed isles, later the shadow isles) was an far more advanced place (they were religous in their cultural structure. kinda similar to enlightened monks) who tried to be the protector of the world with their knowledge and to lock away everything that could be "evil or dangerous" if they couldnt or didnt want to destroy it or develop measures against them (the sentinel weapons were also created by them). By the way Helia or rather the vaults of Helia is the big structure he roamed around in and that is depicted the most (the towerlike maze) He wasnt high up in his order and became increasingly odd, so they left him alone and didnt go near him (out of fear and later disdain for his behaviour) which only furthered his insanity. So he is basicly a monk warden that got corrupted ever further throughout his life but kept enough of his mind to be able to plot and gain more power through collecting souls instead of just roaming around or drowning in sorrow like most of the other ghosts.

The whole point of this cinematic was to show off Thresh's new "Unbound Thresh" skin, which is what became of Thresh after the Ruination event. In a nutshell, Thresh absorbed enough left over power from Viego's global harrowing to unbind himself from the black mist, taking physical form. Where a lot of people, including myself, have a problem with this skin is that it ignores the entire point of Thresh's character: that he's a cruel, vindictive torturer who only torments people because he enjoys it. Classic Thresh may be a bit dated compared to League's modern aesthetic, but he was at least a well-designed monster villain. Unbound Thresh gave him a character design more at home on a sexy anime protagonist, which for the kind of story progression he got, feels really jarring and out of place. A Night at the Inn did a lot to improve people's perception of the skin, but it's still one of the worse skins in League in my opinion.

Fun fact: Riot made this skin because in some countries things like skulls and stuff are censored. Now this skin is the "official" Thresh in those countries, and for the rest of the world Riot came up with this lore for him.

the "there is life, there is death, and then there is me" line means that even the dead arent safe from Thresh's torment/torture, cause he collect souls inside his lantern where they are dead but alive at the same time. Senna (another champion and wife to Lucian the "swore enemy of Thresh) died to save Lucian and her soul was sucked into his lantern where she was trying to escape while other souls where screaming in agony ( in a more simplyfied and short version, Thresh lantern is a never ending torture prison for the souls of the dead)

In the video game Thresh is a support type of character. These characters sacrifice farming minions but can help protect typically an archer style character. So the lack of farming minions means less income. To compensate for that the minions drop souls for Thresh specifically. These souls increase Thresh's Armor and Ability power. IE how hard his hook hits or the lantern shields your friends for etc. Hope you two have a lovely day!

So, quick rundown of the games. The first game by Riot was League of Legends (a 5v5 moba, PC only), then came Legends of Runeterra (a online card game with a ton of lore tidbits, PC and mobile), and now there is Wild Rift (kind of a port of LOL but does it its own thing for some stuff, mobile only). All these games are based in the same world, Runeterra, and have the same cannon lore running through them. I hope that help.

Thresh is an ambitious and restless spirit of the Shadow Isles. Once the custodian of countless arcane secrets, he was undone by a power greater than life or death, and now sustains himself by tormenting and breaking others with slow, excruciating inventiveness. His victims suffer far beyond their brief mortal coil as Thresh wreaks agony upon their souls, imprisoning them in his unholy lantern to torture for all eternity. He was the one that brought viego to the blessed waters even though it was forbidden essentially starting the ruination. He was there when Isolde came back the first time and told Viego that she didnt want to live before she stabbed Viego in the chest. Thresh was the only person to remember what Isolde told Viego and planned for Viego to start ruination so Thresh could become king of the shadow isles. Now he no longer bound to the isles and can wreck havoc capturing souls all over runeterra in disguise

YES, finally i was waiting for this day, so ahh yes Thresh ( my main character that i play as ) he was originally a Relic keeper in a place called the Blessed Isles, over time though the book on his hip ever so slowly got into his head slowly corrupting him, when Veigo basically released the mist, Thresh was charged with collecting and keeping the souls of those who dared stop him ( after the book had fully turned him into thresh ), in words he was bound to viego and had to do his bidding ( becasue Viego was king and going against him was death ) , Thresh being the smart and conniving plotter he was, knew that one day he would fall, and when that day came he couldnt rely on Viegos souls, which i Believe is like a food source, i dont think its quite clear yet, but it does actually power them up, theres another like God of sorts on the shadow isles called Vilemaw, a huge spider, and someone named Elise goes back and forth between Noxus and the isles to carry out his wills, but she is upcorrupted and is allowed passage, in all im getting carried away, Souls seem like a Power and Fuel source for the shadow beings like Mordekaiser, Hecarim, Thresh and so on, again not much has been said what the souls do, so they could be so much more, im sorry this went in a big circle, but i get too exicted when it comes to Thresh and his Lore since theres so much small pieces that tie in to make him this unbound form of himself.

All riot games (League of Legends, Wild Rift, Legends of Runeterra) are all in the same world, Runeterra, all the other games just give more Lore to the main game, League of Legends, and now that Thresh is free from the Isles he is now in Noxus and he is heading to the Immortal Bastion, the very center of Noxus and ow boy the nice caos that would make. Hi both of you :) If you loved Thresh expressions and eyes, I suggest you carefully rewatch the moment when Thresh catches the innkeeper and says to Bort "the hand at your tether" and the guy is trying to defend himself by telling they are friend with Bort. Just keep your attention on Thresh face, the lifted eyebrow is just wonderfully expressive. Anyways loved to see you once again guys. I don't exactly if it has been said but we actually don't really know why Thresh is collecting souls anymore. At first it was clearly some kind of hobby. He collects and tortures souls for "fun". It doesn't seem to be the same now that Viego is "out". In-game though, collecting souls reinforces Thresh so... Stay safe, good video again :)

Thresh used to be a warden of living artifacts. But he turned wicked and even helped Viego cause the ruination. He revels in his power over both the living (torture their souls eternally inside his lantern) and other wraith such as Ledors and Kalista. He is a mastermind. The ultimate villain for LOL.

​@@noox13 The ultimate villain in Runterra is Mordekaiser. A guy who has such a willpower that he denies the concept of death itself. They cant kill him , they can only banish him from the realm of living for a good thousand years. All the powerful figures in Noxus city searching for a way to stop him if he ever returns . (Guy is kinda like Sauron). And community often compare him with the Viego , The ruined king, since their theme is very similar. The difference between them is Viego can only control the souls of people who are died in shadow isles or captured by the mist. Mordekaiser in the other hand, literally owns the realm of dead. Viego was incredibly strong and i think they killed him much more easier than they should have, but at the end of the day he was just a man who pursues his love, everything he does was just in the name of love, he wasnt a conqueror. But Morde aint that kind of guy. He's mindset is like ''if i cant come back to world of the living, im taking you all with me to the other world, and all of you will come under my will once again''. The guy is in another level that Viego couldn't even dream of.

So ok let's begin. With the Sentinels of Light event as you guys know, Viego was defeated and banished in his throne room in Camavor, the kingdom he and Isolde (his wife) ruled over. Bunch of stuff happened that led to Viego's "death", and he became the ruler of the black mist (the stuff spewing from his heart). After he was defeated he lost power over the mist, thus Thresh became the new ruler of the black mist. This power over the mist broke his bound to the Shadow Isles (he was just stuck there before he gained the power) and now after 1000 years (I think it's 1k, don't quote me on it tho) he is free to go wherever he wants (as he makes clear in the cinematic). But don't get it twisted, Thresh as you see him here didn't become human, that's sort of an illusion, a "mask" he puts on to make it easier for him to torment and torture souls for all eternity, because it's just what he enjoys, you can see he's not really human thanks to a cool detail, when he walks towards Bort (the guy with the crab hand) look at his shadow reflecting on the wall, there's a skull, that's "normal Thresh's" reflection. Now there's people theorizing many things as to what he could do next, cuz after 1000 years he would have a lot of catching up to do, but yeah that's just to give you a "quick" explanation😊

The shadow isles born from veigos rampart spell boosted by the blessed isles 3000 yrs ago spawned the shadow isles, during veigos slumber thresh ruled but veigo overthrew and punished thresh, thresh was siphoning power from veigo and during his death reclaimed rule over the mist. The souls he collect are so he can torment the souls for fun, however all shadow isle power houses collect souls to boost their power

Wild Rift is marketed towards younger audiences, hence why Unbound Thresh is default there. If it truly was because of China then Unbound Thresh would be his default throughout all of Riot's League titles, again, it's for age restriction

League of legends is the original game, then they made league of legends: wild rift for mobile, and legends of runeterra (PC and mobile) which is the card game. Runterra is the name of the league of legends world. The battles in the game itself is in a place called summoners rift.

Sooo, there's a Fun Fact at the end of the video that lore fans only can see, the high tower in the back is the Eternal Bastion, a huge military complex in the heart of Noxian capital, that pre-exist to the Noxian Empire, and is known to be the last home of Mordekaïser, another champion. Mordekaïser is an antique Warlord, who was so disapointed to see that there's nothing after death, just turned himself in some kind of undead (it's a Lich King rip off), and tries to build his new kingdom (in some kind of pocket dimension/paralel world) out of the souls of mortals. Thresh and him has never met, as far as we know, but this cinematic seems to hint at what is Thresh next move (Possibly helping Mordekaïser in the foundation of a new kingdom, maybe to betray him later and take his throne). Tell us if you seek something special to watch next, there's a looooooot I can suggest.

to add to the many thresh lore you are looking at also they say thresh is sadistic but he was trying to help out that slave. If thresh was that heartless he would just suck the soul in and force them into the chains but it seems like every now and then he vibs with some of the souls he comes across. he was really nice to him and even let him decide the fate of his boss. i think he torchers the souls of those wicked and gives an opportunity to those that may just deserve to live.

A fact. He is the one who had Senna in his lantern, he is the skull spectre tha Lucian fights to free Senna on one of u have reacted before bout Ruination. Now that Viego(the ruined king)is gone he is free from shadow islands and some how recovered his human boddy but still has the power of the Ruin like when he was an spectre

As the trailer is quite short it may be interesting to add these to your reaction video - it is the music video for the MC Jinx - be aware of the eye color as it is in the amv red (crazy mental final state later on) and in the arcane trailer clips still blue(original) - we all hope to see the developement in the series as the lore about that fact is still quite unclear until today... therefore the amv is about the later character of Jinx. If you want to understand Thresh alittle better you can serach for league of legends champions click on the very first one and then click on supports . In the game he is a support so you will actually see him in his real concept skin. There is a little bio of him so you can understand him better. Thresh actually eats said souls if He needs too but , yes it does make him stronger every time he takes a life. It’s hard to explain league of legends lore because each champion has a deeper lore with their own desires and like it’s hard to explain it and see if you guys understand it, other than getting a response like “😎🤟🤪” PS obviously it’s hard to comment to every person but if you want to understand the lore more for these game universes I suggest seeing complete lore videos.
