All your lessons are amazing. Before knowing your channel, I got 76 in my chemistry midterm1. After watching your videos, I got 90 in my chemistry midterm2. I hope I will get 100 in the final :) Thank you so much Leah!

If you are good at something never do it for free. You just proved joker that good people still exist. I am not exaggerating but you are the best teacher i have ever seen.

Great video, the books and my professor (from India being an added bonus) made zero sense on this subject but you broke it down like it was nothing! Thanks! Btw...your secret is out. By the way you said "cost" either you're a Brooklyn girl or from someplace near by. Of course I've also heard New Orleans ladies who sound exactly the same.

How do I know if I have bonds/ rings based on the equation?
@Leah4sci7 ай бұрын
You can't know if a deficiency is a bond or ring, that's where you'll need additional clues to help you figure it out

If you already had to memorize the DOU equation, can we just use that to see if the compound has any pi bonds or rings ?
@Leah4sci2 жыл бұрын
Yes, of course. My videos are made for the purpose of giving you shortcuts and simple, logical ways for understanding equations like this, rather than just memorizing them. But at the end of the day, you should use whichever method is easiest for YOU.

How does this work for a fatty acid like arachdonic which has a formula c19h31cooh. I keep getting 4.5 bonds, yet this cannot be possible. Could you please explain
@chawsu58259 жыл бұрын
Trying to work it out and the formula for arachnidonic acid is C20H32O2. If we are to use the formula posted above, H= 2 (20) + 2 = 42. We have 32 H atoms and I'm assuming we are ignoring the oxygens? We would have difference of 10 between the two (C20H32 and C20H42). 10/2=5 and therefore the degrees on unsaturation would be 5. Is this correct? please let me know. Thanks!

Very useful video mam ....tq so much...can you explain for degree of unsaturation in aromatic compounds?
