Leak Under Kitchen Sink Cabinet? A common problem I run into on a daily basis, but when I took a look under this double kitchen sink I just shook my head. Who does this stuff? The original leak was actually coming from the pull-out hose sprayer on the faucet.
Upon a closer inspection of the way the double sink was piped, I recommended re-piping both sinks and the dishwasher right up to the wall. I recommend doing it all in schedule 40 p.v.c. pipe and fittings, which basically will last a lifetime.
Leak Under Kitchen Cabinet? Check out the video to see how I fixed this client's problem, and as a bonus created some additional room for storage. They were thrilled! Which is always a good thing!
Happy Plumbing!

It looks professional! The difference is night and day. Schedule 40 pvc dwv is the best material to use. I’ve used. The only caveat is that you need to know your stuff to do it right otherwise you can redo it multiple times. Most of the time I replacing the existing polypropylene that many homes have. On that stuff if there is a garbage disposal I always use a brass locknut to connect the waste arm from the disposal. It much stronger, less of a chance of losing up with the vibrations by the disposal. Keep up the professional work! I’m looking forward to your next video. Happy plumbing!

Good job , I would of put a 1-1/2 wye of the trap arm with a clean out plug then 45 it towards left side of sink then p trap then San tee vertically off tail piece then would of put waste 90 and caught ride side of sink ! Couldn’t tell if you had an air gap or not ? If you did I would of put a side out on the tail piece to drain dishwasher!

Nice work Bob. You really cleaned up that mess underneath. I like that you put the cleanout in for future maintenance as well as the support brace in too. While you were in there, did you consider replacing the hot valve with a quarter turn (looks like the cold is already is a quarter turn) and adding escutcheons for both cold and hot sides? Lastly, was this done in NYC or a neighboring county? At one time, NYC was particularly strict about the use of SCH 40 and insisted on metal drainage. Perhaps the code has changed. I live just outside NYC limits in Nassau county but have a 85-year-old house and have been replacing the metal drainage with SCH 40 over the years during renovations. To your point, I expect it will outlive me without any issues. Also, wishing you and your family a great 2022.

Thank you Kevin, PVC is legal in residential homes 5 stories or less. Work was performed in Brooklyn N.Y, and no did not address the 1/4 turn valves.

@@BobsPlumbingVideos I didn't realize that Bob. Thanks for the clarification. I have friends who live in Ditmas Park in Brooklyn (Stratford and Cortelyou) and they told me that they had to replace all drainage with metal during renovations. That said, that was a few years back but am glad to see that SCH 40 can be used today. Does the same thing apply to PEX? They let you use it here in Nassau county, but am old school and always use tried and true copper for hot and cold lines. It's been in my house 85 years and figure it will last another 85.

You asked what would you do? Allow me to tell you. I would have done the same thing you did inside the wall, Then I would have installed a 2'''' wye with a ftg CO adapter on the end of the wye. Out of the center of the wye I would have installed a 2'' trap centered on the first bowl with a 2x1 1/2 bushing. A 1 1/2 san tee on top of the bushing pointed at the second bowl, in between the tee and the 90 for the seond bowl would be a ftg 1 1/2;; wye with bushing oriented at a 45 degree above flow to catch the Dishwasher

@@BobsPlumbingVideos Thanks for the reply! I wasn't sure since it doesn't seem like thin wall connections meet code for tees/wyes either. Personally, I think your installation looks and will function much better than thin wall connections anyway. The code can be a little nit picky!
