Even if you take her more like a human, it makes sense that her lower body is better developped given her arms are constantly restrained, and she is even seen doing squats in her cell, and assumingly she would be more expressive with her feet because of that too I guess. Maybe we would see more of that if her frenzy was her ultimate, but I guess the self taunt makes it hard, and is a nice concept, and also they chose to take a more non-human approach to it, tho I guess it would make sense in a more super/extra-human way too.

The fact that her hands are perpetually clawed, even in her most restrained state kinda sells the use of her other limbs for self-expression. I personally have a theory that LB is Rell's mother. Her skin tone could easily mean she has a mix of Shuriman and Noxian ancestry. I'm kinda torn. I really don't like the Jinx angle, and was REALLY hoping for an actual horror type character. But that being said, I love her kit, the kill or be killed angle, the feed or famine potential of her ult. It's all very fun to play, and she seems quite strong

Personally as a character design mainly enjoyer, the reveal did not rly ruin it for me. I think i'd be just as hyped. As for my personal thoughts, i just don't think the VA direction was the right one, I think they wanted crazy, so they defaulted to Jinx crazy, but i think they went too much into arcane Jinx and I feel like something like a female shaco voice would go better (props for the VA tho, just think the direction could go in another direction). Besides that, this is some of my favorite character design tropes, even if its not rly a novel concept

I didn't read her lore but i like the idea of her being an effect of the same experiments as rell and thus having adolescent facial features because her age was frozen but her body was augmented for combat. Also thicker, stronger legs and weak upper body works for leaping on her prey kinda like frog's body proportions

Her ult actually makes sense story wise, remember in the cinematic her Pillory comes flying in behind her to lock back into place, so she propels herself by flinging the core of the pillory a mile away. (The effects are i'm assuming ofcourse an artisitic liberty to convey propulsion and the visual gag of a rocket launch)

I think the strength of Briar is how happy go lucky she is with hints of real danger, which could turn into some insane moments when she snaps for real. I mean is that collar actually a brainwashing tool that actually imprints a different personality on her? I can definitely see some Gollum/smeagol moments come out of her. Bloodthirsty massacre witch vs happy innocent girl interactions could make for some stellar dialog opportunities! The reason i think that could work is because a drop of blood doesnt have a conscience but they somehow gave her one, which means that they could do it again. What if the "Briar" we hear talking is actually the collar? Considering that a briar is "a mass of prickly scrambing shrubs" if fits even better. That on the other hand opens up a whole new world of "We killed a kid, imprisoned her conscience in a torture tool and forced her into a artifical body together with a murderous monster" horror.

TBH, I think Briar's persona fits. She was imprisoned for who knows how long and basically not allowed to have human contact... because the second she does is the second she escapes. People being disappointed with new champions because they don't 1:1 fit their expectations and biases is a recurring issue with League's community. Very rarely do you ever see individuals admit "This champ isn't for me", rather it's always a criticism of could have or should have been, while turning a blind eye to what the champion is actually trying to be.

Next time they should maybe just not look at the leak picture and stop looking into them and when you see a picture of a new champ just keep scrolling. Yes, there's definitely a large group of people on the internet who need just about everything they come into contact with or have hype over, to be what they want/predicted or else they have major issues with it not being what they wanted. Especially in gaming/video games, something can't be "not for them", it needs to appeal to the vast majority and then some, or else people will dogpile it, probably downvote/criticize and give it a negative stigma until it goes away. The thing is, it's hard to make subversive art or creations when people are that way, because most people see the vague direction something is going in and their first thought is literally just following it to it's natural conclusion, rather than subverting anything about a creation. Personally, I'd argue it's more boring if the art team just followed the idea of a blood hungry horror-themed vampire to it's natural conclusion, because we've literally had Count Dracula since 1897 or so. And we have Vladimir in League already, he's not a vampire persay, but he fits the theme of a cordial and deceptively charismatic count character already. Riot would have needed to take a big spin to make another cordial, charming character but a vampire this time, to have them be different enough from Vladimir in terms of art and design, and if not, for clarity's sake definitely, and so I'm kind of convinced either way that the classic horror style crowd who were expecting that for the vampire here weren't going to be happy or enjoy the character, at least as much as the number of people enjoying Briar's final look now anyways. Like all the people who are complaining about her being similar to Jinx and other "crazy girl" characters, we literally still would have been in this scenario if she was made to be a more classic vampire, because then everyone would have been comparing her to Vladimir whether it was a guy or girl, even if it was a more mindless killing machine character or if Riot tried to give it as much of a new spin on a classic character as much as possible. People wanted a vampire, a REAL vampire in League, they got one now, but either way, one side of the aisle was going to be upset or the other pretty much.

It is so frustratingly annoying when characters are designed like this because it feels like it wants to appease the large majority of people who simp over "I can fix her" characters. Toga from My Hero Academia has always pissed me off because of the way she is written as if we are supposed to not blame her for her actions. "Oh no this poor girl she can't help the fact that her quirk makes her crave blood, thats why it's okay that she is a murderer." It ends up creating this community that simps over this character because she's cute not because she's actually a compelling character. There are plenty of characters that exist with blind rage-based abilities, yet are seen atleast trying to, if not succeeding, at controlling it. If not, they are most definitely not getting any excuses made for them and often the character themselves know what they did was wrong.

I didn't see the leaks, only saw the phase trailers and she came off as insanely unhinged, like she'd talk to you like a normal person, luring you in, until you got too close and then all bets are off. When I saw the reveal trailer I was quite disappointed, seeing the full design combined with voice and personality direction made it really clear they were going for something much safer, maybe even trying to replicate the success they found with Jinx. Everything about her is... fine I suppose. It's just so painfully boring that I'm honestly upset I was hyped for her.

On the “meant to look like an IV bag or a blood droplet” thing, I’ve worked on stuff like this in College and it ties back to them explicitly saying she’s meant to be “a woman but not sexualized” The ACTUAL problem with a statement like that is that a character with sexy traits who is meant to be sexy doesn’t need an excuse. Miss Fortune has H cups because…no reason. But for a character design you’re making without that intent, anything that might be sexualized by other people needs to have a reason behind why it’s there. You can’t make the character into eye candy for the sake of sales, you have to think about what adding that feature says about the storytelling. And I’ll be honest, saying she’s shaped like that to mimic the shape language of a droplet or an IV bag is the smartest way to handle this I’ve seen in a while. She probably DID start off as a droplet of blood, and then an IV bag, before becoming a human-shaped thing. So it’s maintaining the shape language she’s had since the beginning of her existence and carrying it over to her full body

My wife is 28 now and still deals with that crap because she is petite and Asian, with a similar body type to briar. Leakers didn't ruin the character for me. Yet another "noxian rebel" character ruined the character for me. Briar is basically vampire Rell, from all we've seen so far in the cinematic. The written lore then contradicts the bloody cinematic. It's like they changed it last minute. I'm really not impressed.

Just looking at the last 15-20, Naafiri is a Darkin with an interesting twist, K'Sante is a bulky male tank, Belveth is a half monster, Renata is far from a traditional beauty, Vex is a yordle that fits perfectly in with their cast of misfits, Viego is Viego (i wish he had more armor, but he's a literal prince trope), Rell is a nontraditional beauty. Looking farther back, we got Pyke, Sylas, Ornn, and Kayn, all since the release of one of THREE child characters in the whole roster. Yeah, we get "champions designed to be popular", but you're definitely acting like thats all we've gotten for years. When in reality, they might make up MAYBE 50%? But if we go back in time, this is how things have always been? In the span of less than a year (2012-2013), we got Jayce, Zyra, Diana, Syndra, Elise, Zed, Nami, Vi, Quinn, Lucian, Jinx, and Yasuo. Hot girls and edgy male characters, including Yasuo, *the weeb* character.

Her ultimate being a stone being flung at people fits with her medieval theme with the pillory and imprisonment, since stoning was a type of punishment for the guilty. She likely learned easy techniques to get blood out of people from the Noxian's torturing and punishing people. Not to mention that her pillory reattaches like a magnet, and it seems it's not just one way as she might be magnetized to _it_ as well, making her fly at wherever the main piece of it is at. In game, you can't control whether or not you go to someone you hit with the ult, similar to a dog being told to fetch, possibly due to the blood or the physical magnetizing of it pulling her to it. Since blood is the carrot on a stick for her, it makes sense that the Black Rose designed her around this, but obviously foolish since blood is pretty universal in most beings in Runeterra.
