As I went to dump our grey water tank, I noticed a slow drip coming off of the pull handle...NEVER a good sign! Upon further investigation I found a crack in our kitchen grey water tank. Here's how I patched it up to get us back on the road!

Even though you didn’t expect to spend the day working on the tank - thanks for taking us with you through the repairs. Looks like a good handy fix and would agree with your tire theory.

I use Gorilla tape when I have had to cut access points in the belly. Just clean with acetone or something first. Makes it easier if u get back in there later. Good work David

@@JouppiOutdoors it held up for many miles once I got it clean. My tire did the same thing on our travel trailer. Heard it hitting while driving and had to pull over.

Just got back from a boon-docking trip and saw a leak during our time. Towards the rear corner when the shower was in use. Plan to drop the bottom panel in a few days or use my bore scope to track it down. I did a search and was glad to see you had some good tips. Thanks as always.

Great information regarding the repair of that tank. I really don't care for the fact the galley gray tank has a separate drain from the bathroom gray and black tank. Mine is the same way.

No, and it hasn’t dropped back down. We did come across some VERY terrible roads the previous couple of days though. I’m guessing it was a little loose and the bouncing worked it loose even more.

@@JouppiOutdoors Great thanks! So far cannot find the source of the leak. It's possibly higher on the tank where I can't currently see. It also stopped as I had emptied much of it into our portable waste tank (not at a full hook-up site). Gonna' leave the CP hanging open wait and see if it starts leaking again after showers tonight. It had been completely full, backing up into the shower drain...hoping maybe it was just somehow an overflow leak. But it wasn't there before emptying. RV life! Freezing wind makes the whole process exciting. Also - what is that aluminum foil stuff Grand Design has plastered everywhere under there??? Makes it hard to see anything!! lol
@JouppiOutdoors

I believe ours is now leaking from the top of our kitchen gray tank as well, I’m pretty sure it’s the seal around the drain pipe in the top because it only leaks when it’s packed full….so we just try to keep it from filling completely up. I’m not excited to try and drop the tank!

Absolutely, several good vids on youtube "fiberglass repairs to plastic" . Just use some resin impregnated glass matt over your crack after a little sanding and cleaning, very strong.

I actually made the repair using fiberglass mat and resin. It has been very strong and has not leaked since the repair. Going on 8 months of full time use with no issues. I documented the repair process in another video.
