★☆★ ABOUT DR. AMELIA SCOTT BARRETT ★☆★
After more than 20 years as a Stanford-trained Neurologist, I'm seeing a big problem out there. So many people with migraines are "powering through...". Gotta get the kids to soccer? Take some ibuprofen. Work deadline coming up? Pull out the prescription meds. I'm not judging ~ I totally get it, because I've done those things too. The problem is that when you get to the point where you're having 10 or more headache days a month, then your brain starts to physically change. It's kind of like laying down train tracks that make it easier for the "migraine train" to run through your head.
Instead of powering through, we need to listen to the pain signals and figure out to help the brain actually heal. Does the brain need different nutrients? Do we need to remove toxins? Rewire to the parasympathetic state of healing? We can use modern science to figure out exactly what we need in order to heal, and then we can monitor our bodies with devices to be sure we are making that happen.
Curious? Good! Join me for our Masterclass so I can explain it in more detail!

I figured out that high histamine foods are responsible for my migraines and congestion, and stomach issues. I just had ALCAT testing and am waiting for the results.

Thank you! I didn't know what was going on inside my body, but I came to my own conclusion if I start eating poorly (processed food and sugar) I will get a migraine. Twelve years ago, I used to get a few migraines a month. They'd start with visual disturbances (spirals, flashing lights, and/or peripheral blindness), along with numbness in my face and hands. After these subside, I get skull-crushing pain. But after I dropped grains, processed carbs, and sugars, the migraine headaches stopped. The few times I go off my clean diet (holidays and vacations) will inevitably be followed by a rare migraine. Thanks to you, now I know WHY it happens to me.

I have cured my Migraines 100% by avoiding MSG and hidden MSGs that are in about 90% of prepackaged foods in the store. Most people don't want to know that their favorite foods are what are causing their horrific headaches and other problems. Dr. Berg here on this platform has an awesome video about hidden MSGs. That include Monosodium GLutimate, dextros, maltodextrin, hydrolized proteins, natural flavor, cultured celery powder, paprika extract and even so-called "Vegetable Broth". If it gives you blinding headaches and vomiting it is not like the vegetable broth your grandmother would make. They like to put this in premium tuna. The problem is all of these cause massive inflammation in the lining of the brain, joints, gut etc. And they spike insulin levels up to 300% causing diabetes and obesity. You summed it up perfectly about eating processed foods and sugars. But this is the why of it.

This is a very useful video. But it is useful to know some very common foods that cause the leaky gut and most people are not going to want to know this. They contain substances that on a microscopic scale are like volcanic ash or sharp glass ash. You probably know that when you breath in Volcanic ash it makes your lungs bleed. There are foods that contain similar substances that are sharp and scratch your intestines, arteries and blood vessels. Most people think that eating fat is what clogs your arteries but it doesn't. 95% of clogged arteries are from your body repairing inflammation and damage caused by seed oils and foods that contain micro substances the damage the walls of your arteries. The clogging is like a scab upon a scab upon a scab. Its not fat clogging them like a clogged sink. Some major foods to watch out for are Tomato Seeds and Skin. And since you are not likely to seed and skin your tomatoes it means you will want to avoid them. Another is potatoes. One of my favorite foods that I like cooked any way even almost burnt and I love them but I try to avoid them now. Another eggplant. There are others but if you avoid eating tomatoes and potatoes regularly that alone can help if your have Irritable bowels or other similar problems.

So true about food sensitivities changing. After COVID onions and garlic became a migraine trigger for me and triggered IBS symptoms. Medical advice: don’t eat them. Almost every food in America has them. 😢

That's odd, eating raw garlic and onions has greatly reduced my incidences of migraine. I actually found this info on this channel as these suffer rich foods are proven to increase glutathione levels in the brain. People have been ingesting these substances for hundreds of thousands of years so chances are your microbiome has issues, keeping you from digesting them properly.

Huh, so the COVID caused inflammation, and I bet that contributed to leaky gut, especially in somebody with a history of IBS.

Can I ask you one question about leaky gut? I know I have some gastroenterology issue, Ive been taking an ppi inhibitor for more than 20 years although the medication has changed. I'm at the point where after being exposed to high levels of toxic mold (suffered from migraines since a stroke years as ago) but they've tripled in pain and intensity. Brain fog, extreme forgetfulness, short term memory, joint pain, dental issues, skin, thyroid , MRI reports changes in my left frontal lobe thickening of the naval cavity walls, tinnitus has started, vision has changed drastically floaters often make me swing at the air because there are so many, also starting to see like light reddish brown patches in the whites...my question is everytime and I mean every time....after eating mucus comes up with some food but mainly mucus. I've learned 8f I don't spit it out it will continue to come up over and over. Does that seem like a sign of leaky gut? Also naturally constipated, lits of gurgling, bloating, belly (navel pain)

I have vestibular migraine and have been advised by my neurologist to take magnesium, which I am doing. But isn't that greatly reducing stomach acid need to digest food? If so, could that be causing or contributing to leaky gut?
@ameliascottbarrettmd

Nope, magnesium does not reduce stomach acid. Acid blockers - proton pump inhibitors- do though
