I changed my brand of silicone after the one I showed in the video (CT1) didn't last 8 months.. it ended up being brittle. I'm hoping the window-specific sealant I bought lasts longer - Everflex contract 225 - Industrial & glazing silicone (amzn.to/4iwi15I). I'll report back in the future with how it went.

Thanks for taking the time to post this. It has given me the inspiration to to investigate our bathroom velum leak, which felt a bit intimidating!

Brilliant! So glad you found it useful.. if you haven’t already, make sure you check out the other Velux fix video I published. As you saw in the videos, the main thing is to just try a few temporary fixes & see what works 🙂

I’ve got this exact problem in between 2 windows, I’ll get up there with some ct1 and try this! Thanks 👍🏼

Are you sure the pitch of your roof is steep enough for the window, you could be getting blowback. And it would help if you had a special tile to stop the blowback one is called an anchor centurion I believe it goes down to 12 deg.

Mine is definitely low pitch. It’s hasn’t been an issue in the past 12 years, then has started on the Velux windows specifically.. which has been solved by using sealant like I show in the video. However I did wonder initially if it was blowback, and I guess in some situations it still might be. Thanks for commenting! 🙂

See... at 2:04 the exposed side screws was where mine was leaking. I siliconed it and taped it over.

Ah, good catch! I really must tape over all mine at some point.. I'm sure it won't be long until I need to go up there again .. I've got 4 of them & have only so far had trouble with 2 of them.

@@Endpoint101 Good idea! I only have 2! Which tape?
@Endpoint1013 ай бұрын
I use black insulation tape.. its very weather proof & sticks on nicely, but can be removed and restuck (a bit like a post it note), so is perfect if you need to access the screws.

@Hew.Jarsol no, more like electrical insulation tape
