In this 2021 TEDxSeattle performance, 17-year-old Benicio Bryant shares how his passion for music led him from his very first live performance on a school talent show stage at the age of 8 to his debut on America’s Got Talent and beyond.

Meet Benicio: teenager, musician, performer, and one of this year’s TEDxSeattle entertainers! Just like his passion for music, Benicio holds authenticity close to his heart. “I feel like this is really it. That this is what I was put on this Earth to do.”
The 16-year-old Seattle native performed at his first talent show when he was just eight, and then, anywhere he could - at coffee shops, at farmer’s markets, and on KZbin. It was there he was scouted to compete on The Voice Kids in Germany and later, grew to prominence when he was a finalist on Season 14 of America’s Got Talent. After the show, he signed to Simon Cowell’s record label and jumped headfirst into making music. His confidence grew, his talent only shined brighter, and he threw himself into writing his own music more than ever.
When the pandemic hit, he invested in a home studio and continued to collaborate via zoom with writers and producers to work on his craft. His recent single “Sorry” is one he’s most proud of - having written and produced it solely on his own. When creating he’s constantly reminding himself to “just be yourself.” He said, “I’ve kinda given up on what people think about what I wear or what I do with my hair.” “You have one life.” He continued. “Does it really matter what random strangers think about you?” Wise words from a teenager that we could all use in an age ‘where we are’ constantly comparing and concerned about what others think.
Benicio is excited to take the TEDxSeattle stage as an entertainer at this year’s event. His favorite thing about music is its ability to inspire connection, kindness, and simply make people happy. “It’s not even tangible.” He said. “It’s just sounds that bring out all these raw emotions and bring people together.” And we all could use more of that.
Oh, and his favorite Seattle music venue you ask? The (iconic) Moore Theatre. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Benicio first saw your performance in the Kids German show. I thought this little hottie is going to be around for a long time. He's the whole package. Then there was the performance with Brandie that was a mind-blower. Then doing her huge hit on AGT. It brought the roof down. Now I see you have bloomed into that great person you always knew you are and have more liberty with your appearance and persona to be who you always knew you were How wonderful is that? You have a lot of company out there. The only thing I wish is that when I listen to all of your great music the lyrics were just a little more understandable. I know how sensitive artists are, and they don't often appreciate suggestions, but would live to understand every wonderful word of your lyrics. Sometimes it's not so easy. Keep doing and being the person you were meant to be. Only YOU know where your happiness is. AGT gave you a recording contract? Where can I get your album? What a HOT boy.

I so appreciate your request because I feel the same way about being able to, and wanting to, understand his lyrics. At least post them so. We can read what he is singing. I’ve commented on the same thing numerous times. He’s such a great sing writer and lyricist.

Remember when I told you about really honing in on annunciating your words more? You seem to have lost that advice along the way. Im having a hard time understanding what youre saying, youre dragging your words into run-on-words so its like youre not even trying to follow solid good advice that will assist you especially where it counts in sales of your music. I wish you well little brother you know that. 🙏 Your performances on AGT will forever be some of my favorites! 👊😎

There's no arguing Benicio is a good singer and musician. Nonetheless, it takes more than those things ( unfortunately) to "make it" in the music arena. image is a big part of any successful musician. Next step is to hire an image consultant. if he has , then fire his consultant. 🤪😂😉
@docholliday4824
@docholliday4824 2 жыл бұрын
Lenny, he is only 17.. doesnt need a consultant. He has to make it or break it on his own, then he can get hire all the people that will eventually destroy him

His music needs melody. Not like you hear one, you hear all. Easy to create lyrics, but distinct melody for a song, Needs real talent. Bruno Mars in Grenade, John Legend in All of You, Sam Smith and others
