The first instructor I had for 5 lessons, when doing lesson on left and right turns he left it till late to tell me which direction and told me to turn, then he brought me up a large hill but he didn't tell me how to do a hill start so I ended up rolling back a bit. He shouted at and was like "what are you doing" he then spent 45 minutes after our last lesson together telling me that I would be better learning in automatic. I then looked for different instructor also manual. She's been encouraging supportive and we've had some laughs along the way. Working towards my practical in several weeks.

@@DrivingSchoolTV Definitely even if you think it's going to be more hassle, especially in current climate when instructors are hard to come by with testing backlog. Its worth getting a instructor that you get on with as more chance of success and more likely to learn with someone you are comfortable with. 😁

I've had a similar story. Had to leave my first instructor do not feeling motivated or comfortable driving with him. I now have a great instructor and like you said, I have a laugh with her and she's very reassuring even when I mess up. Only thing is it taken me 6 years to restart lessons again.

It's an industrial area and a lorry will just pull infront of you and park without any indication! It's apparently the worst place to live in the country 😕 I don't live there so spend most of my lesson getting there then 20 minutes trying to get used to the area then time to drive back! Boongate roundabout and eye roundabout are on the test routes and nobody follows the lines. Dangerous place as a learner I feel.

But quite a few of the roundabouts are intimidating, I still don't like Eye Roundabout even with all the practice I got! But stick at it, the more practice you get, the more comfortable you'll be. You've got this! And I do agree about it being the worst place to live 😂

I actually did have a tractor on my first test in Chingford! It was going at a good 10mph, but uphill so I couldn't overtake until we got over the hill, wasted about 2 mins of my test 😂

This was a very interesting and entertaining video to watch! I took my test at Cardington DTC in Bedfordshire back in 2016! The only problem I found with test route was the Cardington Roundabout, which has multiple lanes and can be quite busy to navigate around. I would absolutely love it, if you could add this test centre to your list! Keep up the terrific work! 😊

A video recommendation........ How people with disabilities should decide on learning with manual or automatic cars? Maybe pros and cos for both - this will be very useful. P.S. I just had my first driving lesson and it was a challenge due to my disability so I am switching to automatic on my next lesson. I am actually going to change my driving instructor to the automatic driver. I will definitely inquire about getting a steering ball. I am not really sure what this is. To be honest, learning to drive is a new experience for me. I am not sure what adjustments I can have with my disability. Thank you so much for your advice - extremely helpful!!!!

mine was in October, all the other cancellation apps won't do much for you, kept refreshing Testi (don't rely on notifications, the slots will be gone by then) and the DVSA page on my laptop and got a test on the 3rd July here's hoping I pass 🤞🤞🤞

You can readjust any manoeuvre as long as you’re safe and under control. Try not to be nervous just enjoy it! The only stuff they’re gonna test you on are things you’ve practiced loads with your instructor already 😊

Francis, have you ever driven on the continent? I find that most of Europe has very clear road signs that look the same or very similar across countries. I passed my test on the continent and I have zero troubles driving in the UK with the UK driving licence.

Congrats! Yes I've driven a lot in Europe, I've never taken lessons there and once you get used to the other side of the road it's pretty simple. Any road signs that aren't familiar you can look it up anyway. Like there's signs on motorways in Belgium that look like radar warnings. I can't remember what they actually mean though 😂

Hey yeah for sure thats a good idea for a video. It sounds like what you're doing is trying to steer at a set speed. It might be useful to try and steer to follow the curve of the curb and concentrate on keeping the car 1-2 metres away from the kerb instead of focusing on what speed to steer. Give it a try and let me know how you get on!

Sidcup is by far the worst test routes because every corner you take there’s a roundabout on a hill !! So you’ve got hill starts and busy roundabouts on every route 😂 😣
