I remember hearing this song from the movie Coyote Ugly! The first time I heard this song I literally couldn't help but bawl my eyes out. It is a sad song but it's also a message at the same time that sometimes life takes you into a different direction and you just don't want your friends or a significant other to forget you. Or some people may relate to this song from losing a loved one. I can relate to this song from when I lost my dad unexpectedly many years ago as well as when my first true relationship ended a few years ago. I think that most of us can relate to this song in some way.

I was first introduced to this song 20 years ago via Coyote Ugly. This live performance is just as - if not more - emotional as that brief snippet of Piper Perabo (whose singing voice was actually dubbed by LeAnn Rimes) singing it on the rooftop in the movie. I actually shed a tear once we got to the "how we laughed, how we smiled..." etc. part. Safe to say this is my favourite song of all time.

If you watch the duet between the two at the end of the movie (Can't Fight The Moonlight), that's actually LeAnn Rimes singing both parts, so she's technically singing with herself. I was surprised when I found out; she sounds COMPLETELY different when dubbing Piper Perabo (she actually dubbed her in all singing parts in the movie) and not how she usually sounds. It's also worth noting she was only eighteen years old when the movie was released.

The one and only time I saw her sing live was at a fair in Vancouver BC Canada. I'm a player that backs a lot of pretty good vocalists but I had no clue how good Leann was technically. I knew she sounded good but you never really know til you hear a person live. Well she is one of the finest vocalists Ive heard in my life and I've heard a lot. Her performance was literally flawless . Never sharp or flat with perfect nuance and control even with challenging dynamics. I would love to see her sing live again!
