Good start. Nice Wheel. Thank you. ... I may be alone in this ... but ... I would like to see a 100-Volt version of this wheel. 4000-Watt-Hours divided by 100-Volts yields 40-Amp-Hours of Battery. Amp-Hours is where the range is at. ... I ride a Sherman-S. 100-Volts is enough for 95+% of riding situations. Most of us that ride are "not" racers, you-tubers, or big-time jumpers. Most of us just ride for the joy of riding. 100-Volts will get that done nicely and I would be glad for the extra 11% range increase over my Sherman-S as I routinely ride 55-to-60-miles at a time.

higher voltages are more efficent not less
@94e884 ай бұрын
You can't divide the 4000Wh by the peak charge of 100.8v, the nominal voltage is used in capacity calculations. The 100v wheels are 86.4 volt nominal(24 series pack, 3.6V*24=86.4V), meaning the 4000Wh would come down to 46Ah, which is not possible with the 5Ah cells the industry uses. A 45Ah pack could be made, but it is hard to design a pack of this kind as it contains an odd number of parallel cells(45Ah/5AH=9 cells). 3600Wh pack is as close as you can get which is a 8 parallel (5Ah*8=40AH, 40Ah*86.4V=3456wh or 3600Wh when using china numbers).

You have no idea how batteries work
@boblatkey71603 ай бұрын
Well a battery either is listed in watt-hours, or it has amp hours based on its operating voltage and they are exactly the same thing! 😂😂😂😂😂 i've heard this line of reasoning before though, not sure where people are getting their mathematics all screwed up. I've been in the battery industry for 27 years now. So a lithium ion battery that operates at 100 V and has a capacity of 20 amp hours is the same thing as saying you have a battery that is 2000 W hours of capacity. They are the same thing.

Looks to be a great wheel. Sad to see that it does not feature adjustable pedal height but at least it looks like the pedals are the same as the Lynx which would mean you can use the same aftermarket pedals for both as well as the lowering bracket. I'd rather have a tubed tire because tubeless requires higher tire pressure and high PSI requires more skill to manage wobbles.
@boblatkey71603 ай бұрын
Dude I think you got it backwards. Tubeless tires absolutely do not require higher pressure. You could go under 20 psi and not have any issues at all as long as you're not hitting jumps or curbs. Thanks for saying rim diameter 14 inch, many countries measure tyres that way.
@familytvbox52184 ай бұрын
14" - is a RIM size... And it has nothing to do with the countries! Measurement by the rim is a motorcycle thing, but bicycle wheels are measured by the tire on the rim. As for euc - it is stupid to do the measurements by the size of the rim, as you can put different tires, that can be 1-2 inches smaller on an external radius, so the wheel will feel completely different. So, if you do your measurement on the rim - then Kingsong 18XL is the same size wheel as Lynx, Kingsong S22, Sherman S/L and so on, as they all have 14" rim radius...
@WillofNewZealand4 ай бұрын
@@familytvbox5218 I try only buy tyres such as a 14 inch rim has a 14 inch tyre. I'm not a fan of for example a 20 inch tyre that may measure 21 and go on a 10 inch rim. I would be interested to hear your thoughts, comparing the Sherman L to the Lynx. Isn't this basically a long-range Lynx? I've been planning on purchasing a Lynx soon, but now I'm wondering if I'd be happier with the L. 🤷♂️ How do you think the additional 14 lbs with effect its trail riding? I'm coming from a V12, so either wheel will be a huge step up in power, range and suspension. But how do you think the L will do off-road?
@boblatkey71603 ай бұрын
I went from a V12 to a Lynx. The Lynx is an absolutely awesome wheel. And I get about 60 miles of range out of it but it still absolutely rips off road and it is a total blast. If you want to do trail riding and other off-road adventures I believe the Sherman L is going to be way too heavy. That wheel is going to be long distance road trips. although it will probably do fine off-road, I just think a wheel that weighs roughly 105 pounds is just too much for trail riding.

Have a look for "High Frequency Injection" The inductance of the motor coils vary with rotor position. You can inject/overlay an additional current waveform over the phase currents during normal operation to measure how the impedance is changing and from that determine the rotor position. There's more too it, but that's the gist of it, it's quite a rabbit hole. This added current waveform across the motor creates the buzzing sound at low RPM that you can hear in the video.

{ tl;dr. Lamenting lack of a BMS upgrade for Sherman-S.} Introducing the Sherman-L, without first updating the Sherman-S is insulting to the existing customer base. How can we trust buying a newer version when the older version needs these same updates. I’ll gladly wait for the Sherman-S to be updated before I would consider the Sherman-L. Kingsong had to learn this lesson the hard way when they salvaged the S22 but did it insufficiently with both motherboard reliability and a still compromised roller-slider design. Glad to have waited, and still waiting for a wheel that’s designed to update and upgrade over its lifetime (of at least 10 years). Lynx is the closest we have to a wheel worthy of upgrade but the design is still not good enough for the price being asked. Otherwise, the Sherman-L is a good incremental evolution worthy of praise, maybe after a couple of years to see what happens. If Leaperkim doesn’t offer discounted (or free) BMS upgrades to the Sherman-S, how can we trust that the low-production count on the Sherman-L won’t result in a future of regret?
@BlaineRush-b8h4 ай бұрын
What are you smoking? This IS the upgrade to the Sherman S. What are you even asking them to do? My simplistic understanding is that the Hall Sensor measures the positioning of the motor magnets so that current is applied at the optimal time. Without direct measurement, the approximate position can be determined be tracking the inductance and back-EMF in the firmware but this is not as accurate and results in lower performance (low torque). How exactly this is done I don’t know. I’m not an electronics nerd, so yes, it’s Magic to me too!
