Learn 4 doodle designs to use as collage fodder

Learn how to create 4 black & white doodle designs that can be used as collage fodder. Have you ever been inspired by Zentangle art on Instagram and have wanted to try it out? In this video I'll show you step-by-step how to create simple, yet elegant designs that lend themselves to collage fodder. Even though many of your lines and swirls may appear wonky in the beginning, they will still look great once completed. To get the art tape to work better with thinner papers, take a piece of the tape and attach it to your jeans or shirt, then stick it on the paper. It takes away enough of the tackiness to not peel up the thinner paper 🙂

You can heat the tape with a hair dryer or heat tool and it softens the glue

These are great doodles! Thank you for showing us how to recreate them! Please don’t feel obligated to call these Zentangles. While I appreciate the clarifying work of the couple that developed Zentangles, it appears to me that they came up with a catchy name, and deconstructed doodles, which is probably THOUSANDS of years old.

Great vi!! Would use use these papers directly in your collages? I photocopy my original drawings and use them as resist papers on my gelli plate. You can also use coloured pens. Again, love you work!! 😊🇦🇺⭐️🦘

Yes I usually use the original doodle designs in my collages. Scanning them and using copies is a great option, but because I have so many originals, and am constantly making many other types of collage papers, I don't take that extra step. I actually want to use them up in my collages. Thanks for the very kind words about what I share with the world!

It is not uncommon for the rollerball in some gel pens to stick and lock up. This makes the pen stop working. Some people have decent luck heating the tips of their gel pens with a lighter to unfreeze them but it can be easy to overheat them and kinda cook the ink into a permanent mess. I have found that the best way to unstick the roller ball on a gel pen is to "scribble" onto a piece of rubber. You can buy a 6 inch square of rubber sheet in the plumbing department of most hardware stores. (it's used to make gaskets) I usually cut the sheet in quarters and put a piece in my pen case and one on my desk, etc...

Loved the video, however the artist tape you used is different then the one linked to in description. The Tssart brand is way too sticky and tore the paper when removing carefully even after pre-sticking it to my sweater as some others recommend. Could you let us know the brand of tape you used please? (it's just out of frame and unreadable in video) Thanks!

So sorry that the brand I linked didn't work the same as the one that I'm using. I didn't link the one I used because it wasn't available on Amazon, but rather in my local art store.
