Thanks Mary… I intend to show more about improvisation and soloing… Warning: it may include a drone note 😉 We’ll also cover soloing over chord changes for sure! 😀🤙🎶

@@UkuleleZen Hey Stu! I'm really digging this!!! I invited my friend Susan from our uke group to visit me at my slice of paradise. I live on an island 🏝️. The beach 🏖️ is my playground. We had our toes in the sand and music 🎶 in our hands! We jammed for ours and exchanged our musical discoveries. She was quite impressed with how much my skills have improved. Turns out, she follows you too. I invited her to your recent rescheduled rhythm live stream. It was cool to see my friend in the chat. We're both excited about improving our skills. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with such ease. I'm becoming a better artist and enjoying the journey ☺️ I look forward to your sessions. ~Mary😎☮️

Love it, was a great breakfast eye-opener. Now you have to follow up with a jam for Deep Purple's Smoke On The Water. There are few things as fun and funny as an audience of unsuspecting civilians expecting only the tiny bubbles... and getting a mass-play of SOTW instead. Minds... blown. I did this with Baba O Riley one time, where we broke the group into thirds, each third responsible for just one chord. They had no idea what they were playing, because I was just drilling them each on a single chord, not in order... until I changed the chord order to that of "baba" and the wave of recognition and amusement as they figured out they were playing The Who was super-gratifying and highly entertaining.

Nice!! Yes!! The element of surprise is the best! I’ve made a tutorial for “Smoke on the Water”...sometime last year. It’s at my channel page (of search you tube for it) thanks for watching & JAM ON! 🤙🎶😀

Nice. Could you teach us "here comes the sun"?
@UkuleleZen3 жыл бұрын
Sure thing! I have a chord melody arrangement of that that I created… It’s a bit tricky but Do-able! I’m going to have it ready for release this summer as a stand-alone PDF w detailed video lesson for sale. If you search my channel for “ Here comes the sun”, you’ll see me playing it in a different key the key of A… I’ll be showing it to you in the key of G which is easier.

Hey Stu. Clapton is the bomb... Love him and Cream and JJ Cale. Can I ask what is a good drum beat machine for home use? I found Korg Mini and Pocket Operator 32 and Digitech sdrum. But maybe a ipad app? It would be good to hear your thoughts.
@UkuleleZen3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Jonathan -- those are good options you and… Sometimes I use the "smart drummer" on the iPhone/ipad version of GarageBand because it's just so easy to start a beat real quick to play with 🤙

Fun as always... so is this used in key of G? or key of C?
@UkuleleZen3 жыл бұрын
The main application of the C minor pentatonic scale would be over aC major, a C7 or a C minor chord. That “one to one” relationship of scale to chord is the most common application. That said, there are other ways! For now, record yourself streaming to see seven for a few minutes and then jam on top of it and see which notes and which rhythms and phrases really light you up. Keep a notebook of your favorite ones and pretty soon you develop your own vocabulary. 🤙😀🎶
