Wow master you are good, I have just learned the figure 8 spin as well, in the last 1/2 hour of practice I have gotten it down pretty good from basic spin to figure 8 spin, need to practice more for speed and consistency but I am now on my way. Thank you my master.

I actually practiced that with a wood made swoard so i didnt felt that pain while bringing the swoard on the outside of my arm . Probably because the grip is not that large and heavy as an lightsaber grip . I made it at the end anyways even though its not that smooth yet . Practice will do i think.

I give up at this point. I’ve tried for about a solid 30 minutes trying to perfect going to the spin to getting the lightsaber to the side of my arm. Whenever I do it, it’s so choppy and it doesn’t feel natural
@JazzLikesLightsabers3 жыл бұрын
hey man, it takes practice. check out some other figure 8 tutorials and see if the way they explain it makes more sense, and see if doing it the opposite direction works better for you. It's going to be choppy at first--remember that I've been doing this for years. Keep it up man, I have faith in you

When you bring it up is it more of a wrist or arm motion?
@JazzLikesLightsabers4 жыл бұрын
It should be more in the wrist, but if you end up end up using your arm more at first that's ok. If you want, you can send me a clip of you doing it at Jfuller.saber@gmail.com and I'll see if I can give you some pointers :)

Cool vid and clear tutorial! How long is that lightsaber just out of interest as I wanna make one and can't seem to find a "standard" length? 3ft, 4ft, 5ft? Thanks
@JazzLikesLightsabers4 жыл бұрын
Depends. Blades run from 24-40in, and hilts from 7-16 in. the one I'm using there has a ~11in hilt with a 36in blade. There's about 2in of blade in the hilt, so the total length is about 45 inches. I'd recommend starting with a 32 in blade as its a bit easier to control when you're learning :)

@joslatbarcelona3 жыл бұрын
Hey, great stuff! thanks for putting this together! Upon doing the spin, after a while the inner part of the hand where the spin puts the most pressure is hurting... any tip on that? The pain is in the first index finger joint right under the knuckle, which holds the saber against it... Any tip on getting rid of that or improving it? now it hurts at simple contact...
@JazzLikesLightsabers3 жыл бұрын
I’ve never had that issue. Make sure you warm up and stretch before doing the spins, and try wearing gloves to see if that helps
@joslatbarcelona3 жыл бұрын
@@JazzLikesLightsabers I guess it's from my joint not used to pressure & friction... I'll get some gloves and check :) - I put some tape and seemed to help though so I believe your suggestion is the right direction. What gloves do you use/recommend?
@AuraKnight82 жыл бұрын
I don’t know dude I do my spins the same way I spin my staff. So do a figure 8 and I spin it behind me like a reverse obi-ani or something. I’m right handed so when I spin it behind me I spin it up sideways then down then backwards back up. But doing it this way hurts my hand because it drills into my thumb sometimes
