I'm one of those kids that learnt a million riffs before knowing anything about what I'm doing, thanks to this playlist I'm learning heaps of scales and theory behind the bass so thanks a lot ✊🏻

We hear this a lot and it's not an uncommon way to learn. There's nothing quite like that feeling when it all falls into place! Thanks for the comment as I'm sure it will motivate and inspire others to keep practicing and playing!

I got it. Clear explanation and demonstration. The work "mode" gets bandied about quite a bit in learning but often never fully explained. For this clarity I thank you.

I felt like I was literally a "music player" instead of a musician before learning a lot from this videos. I always heard in the past a lot about Modes from local pretentious musicians and they never taught me about it. It was like old arcane and secret magic from a occult society, and no one else was supposed to know or learn, because they always explained only half the way or made it even more complicated in the theory or practice and they looked like gods. I really appreciate this learning videos! Kudos and thanks again for sharing your knowledge with patience. Greatest teacher ever!

Thanks Leonardo - I've always said that if you can communicate and teach someone else to do something that you've learnt, then it's proof that you fully understand an exercise or technique. Another reason to work through ideas and concepts with other like minded musicians

Your right hand is incredibly impressive. I'm all over the place. Constantly hitting strings with my plucking hand that I don't mean to. I notice that you never take your thumb away from the e-string or pick-ups. Other players seem to move their thumbs down as they go down to higher strings. Is one way better than the other?
@new90009 жыл бұрын
okay... im trying to make sure i have this right. A d major scale would be D E F# G A B C# D and then the mode D Dorian is D E F G A B C D, correct?

that's right!

damn, thought i was getting to understand the video until i saw this, and now im confused again XD
@MyDreamside10 жыл бұрын
the whole thing i dont understand is that when we say c major scale we know that the tonal center is c when we change it to d playing d dorian then the tonal center moves to d but we stil play a c major. So can we play a c major with the d as the tonal center? so if a songs starts with a d note how do we know if it's a dmajor scale or a cmajor scale, ahh i'm confused
@perryzimmerman994010 жыл бұрын
It's easy the notes played are all the notes in a C major scale simply starting and finishing on the 2nd degree or the D of the C major scale. The notes in a D major scale are not the same as a C major scale.

Gotta say, modes do seem rather mysterious, but I'm sure it's simpler than it sounds and it'll just click at some point.
