I really appreciate how you give the Northern/Southern ways of speaking. My husband and his family are from Beijing, they sound like pirates it is so darn cute the way they talk. I like to think that if I was Chinese, I would have come from the northern part of the country and have the northern dialect too. I always joke with my husband, I tell him I'm more of a noodle person anyway. I feel more comfortable saying "zher" and "nar". It used to confuse me, when I first started learning, I would ask him, why do you pronounce words like "diar" when they are saying "dian" in videos!?!!! Lol then he would laugh and say why do you say "ya'll" instead of "you all", using my accent as an example to explain his own. 谢谢老师😊

Only the last question you made a little mistake. “That day was my birthday.” in Chinese should be: 那天是我的生日[nà tiān shì wǒ de shēng rì]. “Shì” means to be. “zài” can be a verb which means to be at/on/in; it also can be a preposition which means at/on/in. “le” indicate an action is completed, or indicate a change or the occurrence of a new situation. “That day was my birthday”, this sentence just to tell a truth, that’s why “le” can not used in this sentence. Very good! The first and the second answers are correct. The third question should be: 哪些书是你的？[Nǎ xiē shū shì nǐ de?] We don’t need to add measure word when we talk about the plural. Which books in Chinese should be “哪些书” [nǎ xiē shū] instead of “哪些本书”[nǎ xiē běn shū]. And notice that, “那”[nà] and “哪”[nǎ], they are similar, but different. “什么” [shén me] means “what”, it doesn’t appear in this sentence. The fourth question should be: 我的铅笔在哪儿？[wǒ de qiān bǐ zài nǎr?]/我的铅笔在哪里？[wǒ de qiān bǐ zài nǎ li?] “where” is “哪儿[nǎr?]/哪里[nǎ li?]” in Chinese, “pencil” is “铅笔” in Chinese. Question words are placed at the same place as the thing you are asking about if the sentence is a statement. The last question should be: 那天是我的生日。[nà tiān shì wǒ de shēng rì.] “了” indicate an action is completed, or indicate a change or the occurrence of a new situation. “That day was my birthday”, this sentence just to tell a truth, that’s why “了” can not used in this sentence. “是” means “to be”.
