Shalom! It's T'helah from The Kefar (www.thekefar.com/) with another Hebrew lesson on DIRECT OBJECT PRONOUNS. Think of regular subject pronouns as "active," - they are doing the action in the sentence (associated with the verb). The direct object pronouns are "passive" - they're the object of the sentence, on the receiving end of that action.
For instance:
I see you - I (active, subject) see (action/verb) you (passive/object). "I' am doing the action, and "you" are on the passive/receiving end (you are being seen).
In this lesson, I teach:
- what direct object pronouns are, compared to subject pronouns;
- the direct object pronouns in Hebrew; and
- how to use Hebrew direct object pronouns, with examples.
This video has the HEBREW and ENGLISH written out for all you visual learners - and this time nothing got cut off 😂. Enjoy!

I just started learning hebrew a couple months ago. very cool and interesting language to learn but so overwhelming. It's still early but I feel like I'll never get a grip on it
@ThelahBenDan
@ThelahBenDan 5 жыл бұрын
The first step is to think positive! Learning anything new can be overwhelming, especially something as expansive as a new language, but it can definitely be done. Take manageable steps, celebrate your successes, and remember that language learning is a lifelong process. Thanks for stopping by my channel!

I'm new to learning hebrew and have found your teaching style extremely helpful! However, I'm a little confused with the pronunciations for you (m), you (f), and her/it. Would you spell them out in letters so I can see the difference? Are you saying . . . you (m) אותך = otak? you (f) אותך = otakh? her/it אותה = otah? Thanks for your help!
@ThelahBenDan

For example #1 why would אהב be אוהבת and not אוהב if אותך is masculine and not feminine?

Good question! The verb is attached to the subject of the sentence - the person doing the action. In this case it's "I love," so it doesn't matter what else comes after the sentence, the verb "love" is attached to the pronoun "I." Since I am a woman, I used the feminine אוהבת. If I were a man, I would say אוהב, regardless of who or what I say I love (her, them, pizza, children, etc.). Hope that helps!

T’helah, תודה רבה. I ran into a sentence: העכברים האפורים והקטנים 2 questions: why are there two ׳ה׳ for gray and does there always have to be ׳ו׳ between two adjectives? Also, how do you write your name in עברית?
@louisnisa4716
@louisnisa4716 2 жыл бұрын
If you want to use adjectives with the definite article (ה), you need to put this article in front of every adjective: בית גדול = a big house הבית גדול = the house is big הבית הגדול = the big house If you want to use more than one adjective: הבית הגדול והכחול = the big blue house And yes, you need the "ו" Tehila in Hebrew is תהילה

Is this modern or biblical Hebrew?
@ThelahBenDan
@ThelahBenDan 5 жыл бұрын
It's both - Modern Hebrew is derived from Biblical Hebrew, and these direct object pronouns appear in both. You can learn more at www.thekefar.com/is-hebrew-yiddish-and-other-faqs-about-the-hebrew-language/.
