I mostly use directional picking which is a form of economy picking. Basically you’re alternate picking but when ascending strings start with a down stroke. When going back down descending strings start with an upstroke. I can’t do pure economy picking like your first example of four notes across two strings. That I can do much better alternate picking.

great video on this theme. It's a great technique. it's underrated in my opinion. when you master it, it's as efficient as strictly down and upstroke. Just my opinion. thanks Euge! good job as always!
