Only in vocabulary nd limited loanwords. But the grammar and unusual verb conjugation will drive you crazy once you start learning it. Kain = to eat, has a lot of different conjugation. It can transformed into a new word or aspect based on prefix, infix and suffixes. Kumakain is different with kinakain but both means eating currently (progressive) the difference is kumakain with UM infix, is an actor focus while IN infix is an object focused verb. The pronouns and particles also depends on the affixes you use

I am born Filipino with both my parents Filipino too, as a young child (about 1-4 years) I lived in the Philippines and was able to speak Tagalog fluently, but as we travelled to New Zealand when I reached 5 I had to go to school there. Because the school was english it meant that I had to speak it too, the first few weeks I learned to speak english from my classmates and they still respected me because I was Filipino. When I reached 10 we moved back to Philippines, and because that 5 years of my life was a baby and the next five years I was a student, I forgot to speak Tagalog... I went to a Filipino school and since it was a private school they were good english speakers and they supported me all the way through till now. Soon my school will start but I am afraid because I am not proper at speaking Tagalog, when I got to this school I had to restart grade 4 because the school starts later than from my New Zealand school, I am now going into grade 6 and I am 12 but I am worried that I will become helpless in school now that I am turning teen next year... But I now that I wont give up and I will keep on trying until I become who I started as.

Oo. Hindi well-known ang wikang Filipino, at malungkot iyan. Ang mga estudyante sa mga private na eskwelahan ay hindi gusto mag-aral ng Filipino kasi akala nila na iyan lang ang wika ng mga yaya at drivers nila. Ako din, ako ang estudyante pero hindi marunong ako magtagalog... What I mean is hindi marunong ako mag-construct ng mga mas kumplikadong pangungusap... Pero may dahilan ako... Hindi nakatira ako sa Pilipinas sa buong buhay ko kasi, noong bata lang ako, nalipat ako sa ibang bansa. Dapat lahat ng mga Filipinos ay magmahal ng wika nila.
@karlianbasallote28259 жыл бұрын
+Amy Samuels Kahit naman sabihin na may halong wikang Inggles ang wikang Filipino, mas madali itong pag-aralan ng mga banyaga. Hindi tulad ng ibang wika sa ibang bansa, ay talagang mahirap bumuo ng pangungusap. Pumunta ka sa Pilipinas para matuto ka mag-tagalog.

when speaking politely, why don't you put " Nagsasalita po ba kayoNG Ingles" as you did for "Marunong po ba kayong mag- Ingles"
@senghkawn21538 жыл бұрын
The NG in (1) "marunong po ba kayoNG mag-Ingles" is different from the NG in "nagsasalita po ba kayo ng Ingles" The NG in (1) is an object marker, while the NG in (2) is a connector, derived from NA which becomes -NG after a word that ends in certain consonants. the phrase "kayong mag-ingles" is derived from "kayo na mag ingles"

I was born in Philippines and I learnt to be speak Tagalog. So since when have we referred to our main language as Filipino? What have I missed? Have I been wrong all this time? I constantly correct the westerners or anyone who asks me. "Do you speak Filipino?" My response would be, " I am Filipino and I can speak Tagalog".
@1ChibiYuki7 жыл бұрын
Tagalog, being the national language of the Philippines, may offend non-Tagalog speakers. If I'm not mistaken, we've always referred to our language as Filipino, since it also consists of other Philippine languages, not just Tagalog.

As Tagalog and most of Philippine languages are VSO, the first to come in sentence is Verbs. But you can also turn it into Subject initial language, just use "ay" to invert the sentence order. But it's too formal and is only used in music, literature, poems.
