I’m new to editing. I watched several videos for beginners for Final Cut and this is the best I’ve watched; careful and detailed explanations, clear and precise demonstrations. Whether you’re new to Final Cut or looking for additional techniques this is the video of choice.

A 50 minute video lesson turned into 2 hours of learning. I have been using iMovie for years and have done well with it. I have had FCP for a year and now have the time to start to learn it. FCP has a learning curve and your video helped tremendously. Thank you. Glad I can watch on my iPad Pro and edit on the Mac. Top tip for anyone else doing this. Allowed me to watch pause and edit.

Explained topically, systematically and incrementally better than ANY FCPX tutorial I have seen - and I have seen dozens. "line upon line; precept upon precept." Great care was taken to direct the viewer through each step, applying a clean slate as he moved through different skill sets. Without question I will pursue more teaching from this man.

Bravo! A few minutes ago I cancelled my subscription to a skill sharing website because they failed to deliver anything comparable to this free class and the full tutorial you also offer. The distinction is quality, course planning, preparation, delivery, and pacing. You have it, they don't. You supply the course materials so I can follow along. Of course! My only suggestion - to students - is to try to have a dual monitor configuration when you take the course. That way, you can pause and try something, then continue. Or back up and review what was missed. A tiny bit about me. I'm pretty familiar with Pinnacle Studio Ultimate on Windows but am entirely new to Final Cut Pro and the Mac OS. So, in my case, I know what needs to be done, I just don't know how to do it with Mac OS and Final Cut Pro. Especially the keyboard shortcuts which are so much more important in Final Cut Pro. Thanks for the excellent tutorial.

Just purchased this tutorial, I checked, this is the 21st tutorial I've purchased from you guys, and one of the best yet! (my favorite is still The Cupcake Tutorial), I think I purchased my first from you guys in or around 2014 and since then have successfully edited more than 50 professional projects, but like you said there are a lot of little tricks & tips that make it well worth while to spend the time going through the lessons. Thanks as always Steve, this is another great tutorial.!

"Because I'm old school, I prefer hiding [jump cuts]." I knew there was something I liked about you! This was my first FCP tutorial and I'm glad I found it. This was very helpful and I will go to you first if I need more instruction. Also, I like that your cover images for your videos aren't those "dopey face" ones, which was another reason I chose yours first.

What can I do? where can I find the anser for this? Thanks a lot

I am relatively new into FCP, but have been using iMovie for 20 years. I upgraded due to the power of the program and the power of my newish MacBook Pro. I have not been using FCP just because I didn't understand it as well as iMovie and seems way more complicated. This is a GREAT overview on how to use the program simply and got me over the hump to using FCP full-time. Thank you!!

So I left Adobe Premiere Pro the other day. The reason I left, the dang thing wouldn't open, "Failed to initialize" and all the work arounds didn't work other than restarting the machine and plugging my external monitor in after the program was opened. This can't be the fix. It just can't I refuse to use it until I read it is patched. I pay a lot for it to not work. I made my first movie in FCP. It wasn't fast, it was kind of intuitive, but it worked. I had some issues with files losing audio and then some files zooming in way too much, probably my fault, but I figured it all out. It just made sense. Now, I have to crush the edits. I am a leader in my field, but I am not fast. I need to be faster, but I film a lot, multiple angles, replays, captions. I make the movie I want to sit down and enjoy. And yes I am my biggest fan and my worst critic. Then came this video I was recommended by trying to find motion on text objects and key framing. This video was fabulous. The VLOG type subject matter wasn't my jam, but I really dug all the elements being brought together. The counting of music, genius, who would have ever thought of such a thing? I just look at the highs in the music and make a blank caption and use that as a spacer typically. Thank you for the effort of putting this together.

Really enjoyed the tutorial, probably spent around 4-5 hrs working on it. Also, while working on the starting portion of the video, I learnt that if 2 clips are very similar, just copying colour values works better than the fancy 'match colour' option

This is just brilliant, and proves to me just how much time and angst I had wasted on Premiere Pro.
