I've just downloaded the trial version of FCP and am brand new to it. Of the videos that I have watched so far on KZbin, this tutorial is by far the easiest to follow and full of great tips and techniques. I am looking for to getting stuck in!

Explained topically, systematically and incrementally better than ANY FCPX tutorial I have seen - and I have seen dozens. "line upon line; precept upon precept." Great care was taken to direct the viewer through each step, applying a clean slate as he moved through different skill sets. Without question I will pursue more teaching from this man.

Thank you so much Steve. I only use FCP to do the odd movie of my boys. Been away for a while and as they are young adults now, I am thinking of tackling the enormous task of going through 30 years of video and photos and creating 4-5 min. vids. Your generosity of providing these tutorials, helps to motivate and make the creation process much more enjoyable. Your efforts really do make a difference.

So I left Adobe Premiere Pro the other day. The reason I left, the dang thing wouldn't open, "Failed to initialize" and all the work arounds didn't work other than restarting the machine and plugging my external monitor in after the program was opened. This can't be the fix. It just can't I refuse to use it until I read it is patched. I pay a lot for it to not work. I made my first movie in FCP. It wasn't fast, it was kind of intuitive, but it worked. I had some issues with files losing audio and then some files zooming in way too much, probably my fault, but I figured it all out. It just made sense. Now, I have to crush the edits. I am a leader in my field, but I am not fast. I need to be faster, but I film a lot, multiple angles, replays, captions. I make the movie I want to sit down and enjoy. And yes I am my biggest fan and my worst critic. Then came this video I was recommended by trying to find motion on text objects and key framing. This video was fabulous. The VLOG type subject matter wasn't my jam, but I really dug all the elements being brought together. The counting of music, genius, who would have ever thought of such a thing? I just look at the highs in the music and make a blank caption and use that as a spacer typically. Thank you for the effort of putting this together.

Bravo! A few minutes ago I cancelled my subscription to a skill sharing website because they failed to deliver anything comparable to this free class and the full tutorial you also offer. The distinction is quality, course planning, preparation, delivery, and pacing. You have it, they don't. You supply the course materials so I can follow along. Of course! My only suggestion - to students - is to try to have a dual monitor configuration when you take the course. That way, you can pause and try something, then continue. Or back up and review what was missed. A tiny bit about me. I'm pretty familiar with Pinnacle Studio Ultimate on Windows but am entirely new to Final Cut Pro and the Mac OS. So, in my case, I know what needs to be done, I just don't know how to do it with Mac OS and Final Cut Pro. Especially the keyboard shortcuts which are so much more important in Final Cut Pro. Thanks for the excellent tutorial.

Hi Steve, I've learned a lot from your first video and will follow up by subscribing to your course. But first, FCP rendering my first video files blew up my storage with as result freezing FCP and my Mac. I've exported all source files to an external disk and got my timeline intact, but now FCP tells me that my project files are SDR wheras new files are HDR! What should I do?
@rippleguys
@rippleguys Жыл бұрын
a couple of things. The files I provided are extremely small - under 700 megs - Why on earth would the files I provided "blow up your storage" - especially when no rendering is necessary if you have a fast machine. And even if you did have to render, you're only talking about few gigabytes of render files on any hard drive. Second. All the files I provided are SDR not HDR. The Library I have you create in the lesson is SDR. There is no reason you should be getting any warning about HDR, UNLESS you are importing files into the library other than the ones I provided.

I am relatively new into FCP, but have been using iMovie for 20 years. I upgraded due to the power of the program and the power of my newish MacBook Pro. I have not been using FCP just because I didn't understand it as well as iMovie and seems way more complicated. This is a GREAT overview on how to use the program simply and got me over the hump to using FCP full-time. Thank you!!
