Learn Glass Engraving - Part 4 - Seasonal Tree

Another one in this series of videos where you can download a template and engrave along with me if you like. I have chosen a simple stylised tree image for this one, composed mainly of straight lines. This is a good one for beginner engravers and will give you lots of practice in keeping a steady hand. No shading required for this one and only two diamond burrs; one rats tail and one small spherical burr.

To make this design more personal to you, you can change the depth and thickness of the engraving on the tree, which really changes how the final image looks. Obviously, you can add your own text as well. If you decide to print out some words to use as a template, I recommend that the font you choose should not have a serif.

Hi Pauline. The font I used is called Ink Free. I like it because it is a fairly free flowing font so if you get a little bit wobbly it is usually OK. I do find serif-less fonts are easier and I tend to go for something like Ink Free, Lucidia Handwriting or Segoe Script.
