reuben vargas The Feibings antique gel can be diluted with Tan-Kote. I learned that from another great Saddler like Mr. Cheaney.

Have you ever worked with Eco- Flo’s actual Antique Dyes? They’re amazing! With the lighter colors you don’t need to use a resist before you use them. however with the darker antique dyes you definitely need to use a resist on your leather before using them.

Yes, I have I used some coffee colored stain on my wallet and loved the way it worked and looked.

What is a resist?? Does that help mask areas so only certain spots take on the antique. I'm trying to figure out how to only add antique dyes to the area I stamped only,...not the whole thing.

Hi Bruce, I love your video's. How do you cut your perfect circle pieces?

Thanks for this Bruce. Would there be added protection required to stop the transfer of color onto clothing, say for a purse and purse strap, using Hi Lite Stain and Tan Kote? Also, could you comment on rain / snow stain resistance using this dying technique? As I see in your video, I imagine the underside would have to be dyed and treated as well, how can I insure the dye on the underside of, say, a purse strap or belt does not transfer onto clothing? Thank you!

Are there other products that can be substituted for Tan-Kote and do the same job? Thanks for all the videos. Love them!

why apply tan kote before applying the stain? it just seems like the stain would apply better without adding tan kote first. or am I way off the mark?
@cheaneysaddles
@cheaneysaddles 7 жыл бұрын
The Tan-Kote provides a slight resist so not so much Hi Lite stain will enter the leather grain. You can put the stain on the leather without a resist coat and that is just fine but the piece will turn out much darker. Thanks for asking that's a good question.

To me High-Lite stain is easier to use and I like the results better than the antique gel. Thanks!
