How you can Learn how to Freestyle in Rocket League. Today's video is all about how I go about learning different mechanics in the game and how I break down each different freestyle mechanic in a different way. It's about building a training routine so that you can practice different freestyle mechanics in your own time if you find it difficult working with a freestyle tutorial.

For me I have to have a deeper understanding if something for me to be able to learn it. For example when I took physics I didn't really memorize anything I just learnt the concepts and that way I can apply my knowledge to figure out stuff that other people used to memorize off by heart... That is why I can still answer those question 3 years later but my friends who memorized can't.

I like the 4 steps you are mentioning, on how to learn new things. Maybe you could help out with one topic I am struggling with and that's about becoming better in defending. I am not talking about training maps where you have to clear a ball. I am more thinking about a situation like "opponents goes up for air dribbling, what's the best I can do as defender". Or shadow defense: how big should the gap between me and the opponent be. How close in general should I stay with the opponent. Flakes did some in his "road to..." vids but I hardly can find a real tutorial and all training packs as I mentioned don't really visualize that moment. I would really appreciate something like that since many KZbinrs focus on offense mechanics like air dribbling etc.

This was actually very helpful. I appreciate the step by step thought process. Taking your classes is helping me too. I'm still silver at the moment though. 😂😂 Thank you for a great video.

One important tip for learning any mechanic is to take a break if things aren't working out. What I noticed everytime when I try something and it just doesn't work is that I'm subconsciously attached to the same way of attempting the mechanic. And when i take a break, let's say a few hours and come back to it, I tend to be more flexible and adjust a bit of the way I do the mechanic, if that makes sense. It works the same as grinding ranked. Just simply taking a break, helped me get out of C3 recently to GC1

Absolutely loved this! I have been playing since 2015 but haven't gotten higher than C1 and the game is frustrating trying to ALWAYS win, so I decided to try and start being flashy, have watched your vids for a long time now and you were my first choice to watch and this video made so much sense to me that I feel confident, after watching your 100 hr series' of course! Thanks man! Love the vids! Keep up the awesome work!
@HolyDude02
@HolyDude02 2 жыл бұрын
My favorite phase of learning a new mechanic is for sure step 4, tweaking the actual thing after you learned the basics. I always end up reverse engineering the thing, like, where do I want to end up and how do I have to hit the ball to get there? And that for every step of the way.

For those asking “how to do blah blah blah” do what Thano said. Watch the 100 hour series. I watched when I first got into Rocket League and got from silver to champ in only a few months. After being hardstuck champ 2-3 for 6 seasons, I went back to the 100 hour series and ended up actually breaking into GC and getting my rewards. What I’m trying to say is that the 100 hour series is an AMAZING source of Rocket League academics and coaching and will help anyone of all levels

This stuff is so hard for me and I hate myself for not learning mechanics sooner, I'm currently Champ 1 and I don't know Flip reset, ceiling shots, air dribbles, ground dribble, or flicks.. I simply rely on positioning and rotations cause that's what higher players told me to work on rather than mechanics
@youknowit4954
@youknowit4954 Жыл бұрын
Nah those higher ranks that told you were correct. It’s easy to learn mechanics compared to game sense. Trust me. Now that you have a good game sense foundation, learn mechanics. You’ll be awesome once you have both. Have fun wit it as well. Best of luck!

This may be a nerdy thing to say but I’ve grinded excel mechanics the same way I grind rocket league over the last year and got promoted at my job. It’s all life lessons we’re talking about here. They think I’m a magician or cheating somehow but I just ranked up.

How to train if you don't have hours each day to play? Like, I want to train but I also want to actually play the game.. Some of these training routines take 2 hours and that's 66% of my daily play time. I am counting 1v1 as training because it certainly isn't as fun as 3v3s

Something you forgot to mention thats an essential in flip resets is that its not just "all four wheels". It's all about the center of mass touching the surface in this case the ball. if you touch the ball with the front mass of the ball u will have a different reset compared to touching the ball with the back side of the car's center mass.

this guy forgot the most important tip. LEARNING how to controll ur car. and what buttons to press to do what ur thinking. this is by far the hardest part of rl. u can tornado spin easy but can u controll ur direction? ur height? ur speed? can you save urself from a bad turn? these are all far more important things than simply learning mechanics. learn to fly before flying. learn ur layout and learn to think with ur actions instead of just thinking doing it is enough.
