Flakes doesn't like passive playstyle nor does he describe his playstyle as passive. Fake challenges pressure the opponent whereas being passive, atleast in Flakes's opinion, is just giving space for free without pressuring leaving you vulnerable to a bump/demo play.

That last tip about playing passively is extremely good. I have a very aggressive playstyle and it’s stretched my mechanics and got me to gc. What i’ve been doing lately is slowing down and playing more passively and fine tuning how aggressively i play to find a perfect balance. I’ve also been implementing a lot more fake challenges and rotations out of offense. I’m still getting used to it, but in the pst few days i went from 1585 ish mmr all the way to 1698 while not even feeling like i was doing anything special. If i was really popping off then i would’ve been scoring crazy goals left and right, but i just stuck to the basics and kept of winning. You have really high quality videos and I’d recommend them to everyone trying to improve. Thanks for the content!

6:08 is literally me - i like to give my teammates space to do their thing....this often puts me in the right spot with enough boost to help them out every single time or back off and stall time for them to rotate behind me....one tip i want to give for this 'more passive playstyle' is try to actively avoid the big boost pads (normally I only pick up big boosts once or twice in a game unless its for boomer backboard clears or something) - this might be bad (up to your outlook) but once i avoid big boosts, I am able to run around the field without hesitating at all and feel like I am "everywhere at the same time" simply because i have enough boost (60+) even when I'm rotating fast.....this strategy helped me climb from plat 1 to C2-3 in like 3 months.....i urge all yall to try it - its fun to learn and hilarious when playing 6mans :) (i dont know any fancy mechanics - the best thing i can do is probably a full field aerial and thats all) Thanks for the vid Thanovic - they always helpful to me!

Passive play is important, I love being all attack because I like it better than defense but hanging back and observing the field for sec instead of rushing right in can help. Certainly lowered my mistakes and avoid colliding with a teammate going for it too

Playing slower definitely eliminates the drawbacks to autopiloting and playing aggressive, and makes your gameplay a lot more refined with less mistakes. But it definitely has its own drawbacks. It gives you less time to practice hard mechanics and less time to execute those mechanics with increasing speed. This can really stunt your growth once you reach champ/gc level and realize you're not quick enough or your mechanics are lacking or you're being really inefficient with your movements in high speed scenarios. A healthy mix is recommended at least until you're comfortable with your mechanivs
