The world's finest swimmers always have an incredible freestyle kick. Nisha Millet, the first female Indian swimmer to break the one-minute barrier in the 100m freestyle, is of the view that to swim fast you need to put in work on your legs.
So, in this episode of swimming for beginners tutorial, she demonstrates one of the most challenging aspects of freestyle swimming for beginners, the freestyle swimming kick.
90% of the beginners who learn swimming complain that kick freestyle in swimming moves them backwards instead of forward. This is due to poor ankle flexibility. So, Nisha shows the correct ankle position for the freestyle swimming kick.

Hello, thanks for this video. I think U have given me my breakthrough. I have been kicking all wrong for decades. I was under the impression that you needed to keep your legs straight when in fact, there is a slight bend in the knees?

You’re one of the very few people that emphasized the softness in the ankle and slight bend in the knee. Everyone just keeps telling you to kick harder when in face that quite ineffective if the legs are rigid

Hi Nisha today is my 3rd day for swimming class. Challenges are 1. Sometimes I don't move though I kick using pad. And I don't exhale inside the water instead holding my breath but how long, I struggle after a point n come out. I dunno how to correct myself. One coach says I should kick fast and keep my ankle on stiff 2. Another coach says I shouldn't keep my body stiff dunno how to improve.Please advice how to keep my ankle when I kick though I got some idea by watching this video ,thanks you are a good motivator. I feel energetic and gathering interest to swim

Yes, no need for background music, I want to pay my attention to your instructions.
@andybfax
@andybfax 7 ай бұрын
Hello Madam, your instructions are very specific, to-the-point, precious and hence very useful. However, I've one feedback / suggestion for your consideration, for improving the quality of your videos in future. The background music is though not related to your instructions, are still in very high volume, so that sometimes they supersede your voice / instructions. Hence, at least reduce the volume of those music, so that your instructions (which are the main purpose of the videos) are clearly audible, if not to completely remove those background music. Thanks.
