I am tackling a waterproof slip cover for a couch with ears on the bottom cushion. There are big puppies involved who rule the house! Your video gave me some ideas on how to go about it. Thank you! One note, every time you went to the sewing machine I lost the sound. Not sure why it is happening, but I would love to hear the music!

Hello Rea, hey thanks for watching the video we really appreciate it. If you’re up for it let us know how your project turns out. My dad used to say pets and kids kept us in business, so I understand about the big puppies. I’m not sure why the music went out maybe it’s an editing problem on our end. Either way I’m glad you like the videos and thanks for the comment. Cheers, Paul

@@ucsolutionsgivingmore Hi, thanks for responding! I am still in the throes of it, not sure if I can make what is in my head work, but definitely trying. I will let you know how it turns out. As for the sound -- all sound, not just music. cuts out every time you go to the machine. It happens when I watch on chrome and firefox. I don't know if it's on your end or mine, but it is difficult to follow some of the steps as there is no sound. Thanks.

Hi Paul, I finally finished the waterproof cover. The customer was very happy with it as the first day it was on the couch it protected the cushions from a big mess! Because it's elasticized all the way around, she was able to pull it off and put it directly into the washer. I cant tell you how much it helped to watch your video - Thank you again!

Have tried to watch this video 4 or 5 times now, and it stops at 13:12 every time. I'm not having any trouble with the rest of your videoss or videos on other sites. Would appreciate your checking to see if there is something wrong with the video. Very helpful stuff. Thanks!

Okay so I am trying to restore the leather cording on an older couch cushion. How can I replace the old brittle cording with new cording without taking the cushion apart? Thank you so much in advance and I love y'alls videos!

First I gotta say I love you guys!!! Rare that you see father and son together like you two. Grant seems like an amazingly mature and smart young man. I have a quick question.... I have a cushion that after I opened up to replace the foam, turned out that it had no foam but was a spring with something that looked like batting on it... Can you give some advice on how to redo this?

So glad I found your clearly explained videos.... Love all the little details you add. Just one question regarding the zipper band: it was difficult to see how it was put together because the fabric was dark (no criticism!) but it looked like the two sides were folded over so wouldn't the zipper band be six inches to match up with the 5 inch of the rest of the band assumming the zipper band would eat up 1 inch after sewing it? Thanks for your generosity of time of creating these really helful videos.

Hello Wanda, Seriously glad you found our channel, thanks for watching and for your comment.YES! The way we do the zipper bands is we fold them in half. So two folded halves make up the finished measurements, INCLUDING the total of 1" for seam allowance. SO! You have it correct! 5" zipper bands will be cut at 6" folded over on itself, leaving only a 1/2" for sewing. Hope this has helped you. If you haven't already please subscribe and share the videos,it helps us when you do. All the Best, Paul

Sucks to have 14k views with less than 25 comments and 300 likes. These are wonderful videos! I have done 0 upholstery before but now I'm fixing up a cute glider rocking chair for my room, so these are a big help.

I am so surprised by the lack of comments. I see so many useless videos in my sidebar and so glad I didn't dismiss you guys. Not only are you informative, clear and concise, you present such a cute family dynamic. It's refreshing to see your son doing something besides video games, way to go, dad! I am enjoying all your videos immensely. I have inherited a beautiful pristine sofa without the seat cushion. I upholster a lot, however, this will be the first time making a pattern. Do you have any advice as to where I could start looking for the original fabric? I hate to upholster the entire sofa as the material is quite lovely. Wish you were local, I'd be in your inbox or the phone....lol...

Hello Debby, we both thank you for your very kind words. Grant really is a great son, very glad to have him. Would love to help you on your project if you were in the area. Yeah, I get this question often. Finding the same fabric is nearly impossible they discontinue fabrics on average about five years. The dye lot would never match as well. There are companies that will duplicate fabrics patterns, however by the time you're done paying for it!! Well getting it upholstered in a different fabric would be cheaper so not the best route unless restoring a period piece. Wish I had better news especially after your awesome comments. Many thanks again thumbs up to you. All best and peace. Paul

It would have been a lot better had you used a light colored material so you can see everything you are doing.

I hear you, hindsight and all. I hope you got something out of it though. Thanks for watching. Cheers, Paul.

It was difficult to see the steps clearly as you progressed, It may be easier to see if you were to use a light colored fabric and dark colored thread to sew. This would be a good way for demonstration purposes.
