As a long-time (almost 20 years) teacher, I can tell you something. YOU are a naturally skilled instructor! Your presentation is properly organized, well-spaced as far as how much new 'step-info' is demonstrated and explained in each small segment...your use of repetition is good, your vocal tone is calm and matter-of-fact while still being encouraging...the video angle is good and well-focused so as to highlight the movement of your legs and feet,... the editing is accurate and precise.....you make perfect use of those three simple marks on the floor to show spacing and step-length, and quite frankly, I am just amazed. I just discovered the name of this style tonight, and am researching it now. Your vid is all about the dance and the moves and the overall balance and flow. I'm glad to see a guy do this...the ladies all seem to worry more about their makeup and appearance while they dance than they do about actually SHOWING and explaining the moves. Yours is the best 'basics' vid I've seen yet. When I say 'Congratulations on making a very well-constructed educational vid!" , may I humbly suggest you take it as a serious compliment. Believe me, I don't give out too many of them. Thank you for taking the time to plan, organize and create this great vid, and for sharing it with us.

The secret that makes this a great instructional video is the REPETITION. Before a person can learn something new like this dance step, they have to see it repeated numerous times before their brain can start to make sense of the moves. You did that and it takes patience for an instructor to do so. I'm 77 and this is the video I need to get started on shuffle dancing. Thanks.

@@christybritnell9066 That's amazing. Its really good how you didn't give up but maybe you should try to relax those muscles which are feeling painful for you. Bath with warm water, it will feel good. And sleep well too, its also important. I ain't no doctor but maybe you can follow these. If you keep doing this with a hurt knee, you might start getting muscle cramps...and that is why before doing the shuffle dance, first we need to get used to warm-up daily. First warm up, do the basic exercises, drink A LITTLE water, and start doing this. After you finished doing the dance, relax for 5 minutes and then you can drink water how much you want, its your wish. Just don't drink too much water right after exercising/shuffling, its not good.

I know how to do the Running Man, but I love how you take this step by step, one beat at a time, so that someone who isna HORRIBLE dancer like me can follow along. A lot of tutorials are like "Ok, watch me and do what I do" and I'm immediately lost. Since I already got this one, I'm gonna move on to the next. Learning to do various dances is going to help big time in my weight loss goals :)

Thank you! Much!😘 My mother is a senior, at 66, and has been wanting to learn to shuffle; NOW she understands how. Hopefully we get the groove on. _____ Thank you for making it easy enough to be followed by seniors; this Pandemic requires them some good exercise.

As others have said, this is a great tutorial video. I’ve tried to learn for ages ( retirement age!) & just kept looking like I was Irish dancing, but with your video it clicked immediately with what I needed to do. Thank you & well done. I’ve been teaching for over 30 years & your video was spot on. Please continue teaching… you are very good.
Very helpful, thank you! I've just recently found swing online and can't get enough of it. I'm a bit ancient to be starting this kind of thing but if it gets me more exercise without wrecking my knee I'll be in clover. Your instrcutions are very good (but did you mix up your 'left' and 'right' a couple of times?), nicely repeated and built up gradually. I'm going to practice this as soon as my wife goes to bed. Perhaps I'll astound her in a few weeks. Or maybe she'll be visiting me in the fractures ward if I get too adventurous! Lol!

I had a spinal cord injury very early into my raving days and sat out for almost 10 years. I’ve been getting back into raving the last couple years and have always wanted to learn how to shuffle. 5:05 This was the most useful part for me. I think that's the best way to learn new choreography, is to slow down the video of someone doing it at full speed. The trouble (at least for me) of watching someone doing it slowly, is that it isn't natural. The momentum and inertia and all that stuff isn't right. But it is when you slow down a full-speed video. Thanks for the demo! Now I'm driving my family nuts by doing this all over the house! :-)

Incredible how one little detail can do all the difference on how easy it is to learn something like this. Ive never been a dancer, this my first real attempt to learn it. I have never been able to make out exactly how this move was done, but that little detail of breaking in it to two individual moves that is then combined enabled me to do it in just a couple of attempts. Im gonna try and add some floor marks like in your video as itll deffo help me hitting the right spot every time with my feet until the whole motion becomes more natural to me. Thanks for making this. 🙂

@@alamedadanceparty well, lol . . . The running man is an African dance . . . It has recently been incorporated into the shuffle, so not exactly anything to do with the shuffle that's. And another key component of the shuffle variations is the Charleston, aka swing dance. Most of the new dance styles thou see popping up are swing dance moves.
