This is BRILLIANT!! This is the level I needed before every other beginner swimming video on KZbin!!

What a wonderful selection of practices for swimmers who are afraid in the water! These are great, simple skills that anyone can use. A little confidence and understanding about how the water can keep us buoyant is helpful. Great video!

I was at the pool today and i followed a few of your instructions i remembered, and I was able to float for the first time. Though not for long, but its a milestone. Thank you so much.

WOOOHOOO!!! 🎊🎉 Congratulations on your milestone! 💃🏾🕺🏾 This is SO great to hear! There are some water proof sleeves you may purchase for your phone or device so that you can have them close to you by the pool side if you need to review a video while practicing. But keep going slowly and steadily and you'll get there! 🙌🏾

Wow.... I love the way you broke this down... I recently started swimming to the deep end of the sea and I've been doing all these without realizing. Thank you so much.... Learning how to swim at 40.... So much form.... Age is no limitation to learning swimming

Thanks for sharing! First, congratulations on learning how to swim at 40! Indeed, it's never too late! Second, it's truly incredible that you're now comfortable enough to have been intuitively doing this at the deep end of the sea! Have you been practicing by yourself or did you take classes?

Votre démonstration est capitale , aussi pour apprendre à nager. Ainsi se rappeler de la "poussée d'Archimède" qui nous permet de flotter. Encore Bravo !🏊🏼

How did it go at your practice?
@sandydremmel15063 ай бұрын
@myfreedomfromfear it was a little bit of challenges at first, but when I started to relax my body, my head popped to the surface a little. I need to practice more often. Thank you for your advice.
@myfreedomfromfear3 ай бұрын
Thank you for coming back to share your progress. You've unlocked it: the key is relaxation! Don't force it. Don't push yourself. The more you can bring your attention to your body in the here and now, the more you will have control over what you're doing. And the better it will get.

Wow, glad I could show you something simpler! If you find yourself ever ingesting water then you may be practicing something too advanced for you at that stage. It's always better to be completely at ease and in control practicing something simpler.

Wish I could have this video as standing up from floating is very difficult. In fact I could easily drown in 4’ of water. Problem I couldn’t reach wall when my feet kept sliding out from under me! Any other suggestions.

@@DrBeckyEmThanks for the comment. Were you floating on your back or on your front? In any case, I'll be making some videos soon on floating AND STANDING UP from floating. I plan to make separate videos for back float and front float. Subscribe and keep an eye out for them and let me know if they help.

Lift your head and bring your knees up to your chest when you are trying to stand up from a float. That will make your legs drop downwards so you can stand up. At the same time, move your arms as if you are opening a pair of window curtains at the same time - start with your hands in the middle of your body and pull out sideways with your hands under the water throughout the movement. This will propel you forward and keep your feet on or near the ground. Using your arms to move you forward in the water more than trying to step forward will help you get to the wall without slipping on the bottom of the pool. Trying to walk through the water is difficult and your legs will slip on the bottom and want to float behind you, putting your face back in the water. Instead, use your arms as your primary mover. Then you can just bounce along on your feet. Do not pull your arms behind you though, as this will tip you forward. Just pull out to the side, keeping your arms in front of your body at all times. I hope these tips help you. The best thing you can do is to get some private lessons with a swimming teacher though, as demonstrations in person, and real time corrections are far easier to learn from.
