Muchas gracias maestra Anna por otra gran lección. In some parts of México I learned that people say "Estoy contento" when they are full. After I said "Estoy lleno" I was politely corrected & told that I would use "lleno" if I was talking about a tire. 😄
@ButterflySpanish7 жыл бұрын
Mmmm, no. You could say: "Estoy satisfecho." "Contento" relates to the mood. If you are contento because the food made you happy, great. But lleno is also correct, to say I am full.
@evalina980007 жыл бұрын
Si, satisfecho is the other response they told me I could use when asked if I'd like more to eat & did not want any more to eat. Also when I stay with this family in Zacatecas, I often have the impression from their body language when they say contento they are content.

Like still more people I'm too not rich or even low middelclass, but I just spend 5 dollars of the 20 dollars at my debit card and donated them to Ana. And I'll continue to donate minimum 5 dollars every month. Though this tiny little amount of money does absolutely NOT shows my huge appreciation and respect for Ana, and her amazing way to teach us Spanish and give us so much more, 5 dollars are more than nothing! And I more of us donate at least 5 dollars once in a while, wauw. (y) As you know; nice words surely are very good, but seldom pay for rent, food, etc, or a new red pen for Ana! ;) Come on, Guys, and let's make an extra effort to keep Ana as our teacher! in my native language Chavacano, a Spanish creole in the Philippines, we don't have these verb conjugations which makes our language a bit easy to learn. Our basic personal pronouns are: Yo I or I am Tu You (singular, common, and with mild respect) Uste/Usted You (singular, formal, with high respect) Vos/Evo/Evos You (singular, informal, with low respect) Ele/le He or She (we don't have genders for pronouns) Kame We (borrowed from another Philippine language, We rarely use "nosotros") Vosotro/Vosotros You (plural, common, and with mild respect) Ustedes You (plural, formal, and with high respect) Kamo You (plural, informal, and with low respect) Sila They (again, we don't have gender in pronouns. This word is from Tagalog or Filipino language) Our articles also don't use gender, so whether it is "maestro" or "maestra" we still use the article "El". Our pluralization is a bit tricky for some follows the Spanish pluralization and some use a Filipino-derived structure for pluralization. So the plural of "candela" can be "las candelas" or "maga candela" depending on speaker. We just have present tense, past tense, future tense, past participle, and progressive tense. Present tense and progressive tense structures are the same. We use base Spanish verbs and we ommit the "r". So "to eat" in Spanish is "comer" but for us it is "come" without the "r" Present tense: ta come Past tense: ya come Future tense: ay come Past Participle: ya come ya Progressive tense: ta come (just the same as present tense but can be identified with other words in sentence)

In Chavacano, a Spanish creole in the Philppines. we have: Almuerzo (breakfast) Almorza (to have breakfast) Comida (Lunch or food) Come (to have lunch or to eat) Cena (dinner) Cena (with accent on "a") (to have dinner) We still use "desayuna" and "desayuno" but in rare situations only. We don't have word for "brunch" We call brunch as "almuerzo-comida" or to have brunch is "man almuerzo-comida" or "almorza-come" . We use "dasayuna" and "desayuno" for a quick early breakfast. For general breakfast, we use "almuerzo" and "almorza".

Greetings, Ana. I enjoy your videos and am trying to learn Spanish. I've noticed sometimes you pronounce LL with the English "y" sound, and sometimes with the English "j" sound. Even in this video your pronunciation switched with multiple times you said "ellas and ellos." Could you clarify the pronunciation of ll in a word. Thank you!!! (Gracias!)

It's a "y" sound. Sometimes it just sounds like j, but y is the proper pronunciation

Really enjoy your videos, but this one I found a little confusing in regard to the different meals of the day, they seem to differ somewhat from the way they are expressed here in Colombia. Just the same, love your work...
@jessi3306 жыл бұрын
Comer is a bit confusing for me. In the US we have three meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner. In school we are taught that lunch (the middle meal) is almuerzo. But as I have learned from natives, almuerzo is not quite equivalent to our lunch. Instead, comer. But comer is to eat. So in a medical setting, a doctor wants to know her patient's diet. What do you eat for breakfast (that's easy), but what do I say for lunch? ¿Qué come usted? It sounds too general, what do you eat? How would you phrase it? I have also heard 'lonche' how does this fit in?
@enriquegranados51794 жыл бұрын
What do you eat for breakfast? ¿Qué desayuna usted? What do you eat for lunch? ¿Qué come usted? What do you eat for dinner? ¿Qué cena usted? Almuerzo is a meal you take after the morning coffee and before the lunch,, between 9 or 11 o'clock. Lonche is a word that designate «a lunch»; when a worker leaves home, her wife prepare for him something to eat and the worker or the peasant eats that lunch the moment he wants.
